I am no fan of Pierre Polievre. In fact I despise the "man".
But in terms of policy Carny seems to be effectively carrying out many of his policies.
I mean our energy and environmental policy is effectively dictated by Danielle Smith at this point. He seems to be genuinely scared of an American created separatist movement that has never exceeded 60k supporters according to even one of the leaders of that movement. They are about as serious as the Newfoundland separatists. And never in my entire life has Alberta ever decided a federal election.
They are compromising our national security by reversing course from Trudeau and going with the F35 and our new defense policy is yet more American foreign legion bullshit.
Spending billions we don't need to waste to be a suicidal tripwire for American imperial wars.
They want to buy 6 subs. Ok. What type and why? I have also heard talk off SPGs from South Korea too. Okay, Ukraine has proven towed artillery is essentially dead but we haven't had any air defense units in the army since the ADATS was pulled from service in 2012 so we cannot deploy against anyone more serious than the Taliban without American air cover. So are we going to keep being their cannon fodder for another 80 years?
NATO seems itching for a fight with Russia but France and Germany can't even get one tank brigade with their equipment to Poland during peace time exercises. How the fuck are we going to deploy across the Atlantic if things kick off and one Oreshnik would take out what we have in the Baltics.
We are playing at suicidal tripwire in Japan and the South China Sea again for American interests exclusively. This might have made sense 80 years ago when we had the 3rd largest navy. Now China would sink our entire navy with a single task force and the only use we will be is to be a tripwire. The Americans will know the war has started when no Canadian ships report in.
I think it is about time we come up with a defense policy which is about Canada, and act accordingly.
Their housing policy seems to be more of the same "throw money at developers"
They seem to be keeping the EV target yet making meeting that target impossible by putting tariffs on Chinese vehicles which again were done just for brownie points with the Americans and subsidizing inferior American automotive products based on loyalties of 30 years ago.

I mean let's not get it twisted: Carney is a conservative. It's just that people like Poilievre and Smith and Moe have continued to be regressive and are pushing the party farther right.
The Conservative party of our parents is gone.
I think you're probably wrong about him being worried about Smith. He gave her a deal to shut her up but there's still pretty much zero chance that Alberta can meet the requirements to actually get the pipeline done.
Honestly i don't think too much of Carney as PM. I'm not a liberal voter, myself.

@Pikachu I mean you are not wrong. It is just frustrating,
The problem is that pipeline project will be a bottomless pit of money. A pipleline to nowhere to appease someone who ultimately doesn't matter nationally.
I am not a Liberal voter either. I just didn't think he would start from the point of coddling the MAGA clowns in Alberta.

I'm of two minds.
On the one hand i'd like them to have a majority so that Poilievre (who whomever becomes the next Conservative leader) actually has to do the job of government instead of just trying to bring down the liberals every 3 months
On the other hand i prefer a federal government that can't just pass whatever they want and needs to work with other parties representing a more diverse set of Canadian interests.

lol put away the claws, kitty.
All i said was that i'm tired of Poilievre's political theater and threatening elections every other day. Did not say i think the federal liberals are doing a great job.
Well i'll disagree with you there. I think a government that has to work together inevitably leads to the interests of more Canadians being better served instead of a ruling party just pandering to its base.
P.s. Please for the love of god learn to use some punctuation. I nearly had an aneurism reading that 😅

teaming up with other parties for the sake of globalism over national interests isn't going to successfully make any prosperity to Canada's national interests tbh
