Is Trump’s National Defence strategy likely to betray European NATO allies in the face of a totalitarian Russia/China bloc?

There is much debate about the strategy here in Europe.

Unfortunately, it already has!

One might agree with Trump to some extent, the US has had military base in Europe ever since WWII at great expense to the US taxpayer. On the other hand, the military-industrial complex, which President Eisenhower warned of, benefitted greatly from those expenditures, so the economics are not that clear. As one who served 2 years in the Navy in Europe 1970-72, I did see some members of European military also deployed but at a far lower rate than US. I never really understood our mission, but it was at a very difficult time for our country and the fear of Russian interference, at that time USSR, was great. I honestly do not understand the complacency in our government over the attempt by Putin to annex more of Europe. I hope the EU can step up to the plate.
