Trump, Hegseth Prepare to Throw Military Commanders Under the Bus

Sec Hegseth now denies he gave the order to kill the two survivors of the military strikes in international waters. Trump says he believes and supports Hegseth. That could only mean that some Commander went rogue and violated US and international law on his own.

Sorry Generals and Admirals. You are now alone and will have to fend for your selves. Your leaders have abandoned you.

The rest of you who have not committed crimes yet might want to heed the words of Mark Kelley and his colleagues.

Don't matter what Hegseth denies..........or what trump does. They are the only two who could have given this order. This is an impeachable offense all by itself and more than grounds enough for prosecution of Hegseth. This is a violation of international military law, U.S. code of military conduct and is a world court violation. After WWII Japanese Admirals and ship's captains were executed for killing survivors at sea. Ditto for German ship and U-boat commanders. There is no grounds to plead anything after doing this. Hegseth has trump's ass to cover him now........but this is a crime that has no statutes of limitations. Eventually Hegseth will face charges. And trump should. That said a fully bribed SCOTUS gave trump immunity from EVERYTHING...so that one is hanging in the air. He will die before he is tried on all of the things he could be charged with...........Hegseth is young.

There is a line of people in this Chain of Command that will go down. First of course will be the Warrant Officer and the enlisted personnel that pulled the trigger both the first times on the other boats ........and in this case the second time on this one boat. Then it will feed up the line over time. But it may have to wait until this corrupt bunch of POS's are gone and we have justice back in America and a lot of judges are kicked out of jobs for playing favors.

@anythingoes477 I hope you're right. But even if Dems take both houses 2/3 of the Senate will never vote to impeach trump or kegsbreath.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

In Vietnam, Lt Calley was the only one to stand trial for the My Lai massacre, despite the fact that many men under him pulled triggers. Seems the military court sought the person with the most responsibility. In this case I'd expect the court would gather testimony all along the chain of command; then look at where responsibility was maximized.

If an admiral or a captain expressed UCMJ reservations and was ordered to go ahead anyway, that might protect them.

@ElwoodBlues In ORDINARY America.........in an ORDINARY world.........everyone from the enlisted person who pulled the trigger to the top guy giving the orders would be tried for war crimes for doing this.

In Nam Lt. Calley was the top guy to prosecute. The ones doing that was under his direct command...on the ground. There was no knowledge of that attack above him. The reason the actual troops were not tried and convicted was because of wartime morale reasons. And the same mentality that no one in the military will hold any of their own responsible for crimes..........like rape.

And I once thought that Nuremberg sorted all this responsibility stuff...
@Convivial …in this case: never learned them in the first place!

IMPEACH, REMOVE, CONVICT!

@KunsanVeteran nice thought but it'll never ever happen... If America was a person who jumped off the Empire state building I think it's the equivalent of just passing the 58 th floor
@Convivial …yes, or even more likely, never learned them in the first place!

This isn't going to set well with the top brass. The very first time Congress mentioned oversight Hegseth, panics, changes his story and points his finger at a subordinate. How is that for leadership?
@MoveAlong Their packs of lies are falling apart—just like always. Will the Republicans in Congress let them off the hook for murder and other war crimes?

How low can this misadministration sink?
@MoveAlong Hiding and setting up underlings as fall guys and scapegoats is what has always passed for “leadership” with Demented Donnie and now his misadministration.
@MoveAlong The antithesis of leadership and, therefore, exactly what we expect from tRUMPed up drunkard Petey Boy!

In fact, he was so discombobulated & panicked that he didn’t even apply his makeup right—his mascara was running!
The unlawful kill order makes sense though. Hegseth would know that prosecuting anyone for murder in international waters is bordering on impossible at the best of times. So it would make sense if you wanted to make a war crime "go away,:
Hagsbreath giving that lecture to the brass that rules of engagement would no longer be a thing is also part of this. It gives the political clowns at the top the ability to disown any commander who does something that becomes bad PR or illegal after the fact.

@BorealPedant You are spot on…and what does that say about tRUMP’s misadministration?
BorealPedant · 41-45, M
@KunsanVeteran Well, what it says is self-evident lol.

Another day, another thing that will "get Trump"....and this time, it's SERIOUS.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@MoveAlong Siiigh... I didn't say that. I said that people like you didn't and don't care about war crimes committed by previous Democrat administrations and you mocked me for it.

So again, now you know why people like me don't care when you scream and yell about Trump's military actions against Venezuela.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@SumKindaMunster Sounds exactly like a whataboutism to me.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@MoveAlong I'm sure it does. Well, at least you can't say you were never told. 🤷‍♂

Update: Now the White House is saying Admiral Frank Bradley ordered the 2nd strike on the survivors.

@KunsanVeteran If you noticed Hegseth's story changed after some of the Republican lawmakers chimed in. All of a sudden it wasn't him who called the shot. Now it's all Admiral Bradly's doing.

They're also twisting themselves in knots trying to justify it as America is under attack. Well even if we were you don't kill survivors clinging to floating debris.

@KunsanVeteran I don't know. They stripped him naked, put a gown on him and stuffed him in a MRI machine without him being aware of it.
