Is Israel of the Bible the same as the one of the British Mandate?

The meaning of Israel and its cause of the Gaza war needs critical examination.

Israel, as the national home for the Jews, is a political invention. The concept of "Eretz Israel" (i.e. Land of Israel) and its re-establishment as a modern state was a basic tenet of the original Zionist program. Whereas Israel of the Jewish Bible refers to God’s people: those that he established a covenant with. For Christians, this points toward the new humanity created in Christ; citizens of the kingdom of God. As Jesus had said, his kingdom is not of this world.

And what do you say?

I say you pretty well nailed it. Because it's called Israel, that's enough for some people to assume it is Israel. It takes more than that for me

Christianity informs western culture and shapes how we perceive reality. You must stay pretty awake to avoid getting swept down the gutter of politics.
