Is Israel of the Bible the same as the one of the British Mandate?

The meaning of Israel and its cause of the Gaza war needs critical examination.

Israel, as the national home for the Jews, is a political invention. The concept of "Eretz Israel" (i.e. Land of Israel) and its re-establishment as a modern state was a basic tenet of the original Zionist program. Whereas Israel of the Jewish Bible refers to God’s people: those that he established a covenant with. For Christians, this points toward the new humanity created in Christ; citizens of the kingdom of God. As Jesus had said, his kingdom is not of this world.

And what do you say?

They are not the same thing but the prevailing thread in modern Zionism is about expanding it to match the ancient state of the bible in the Levant.

The Levant has nothing to do with the Bible. It is a French word that refers to the eastern Mediterranean coastal lands of Asia Minor.
@sree251 We are not talking about the Crusader kingdom. The Levant in any contemporary context comprises most of the Middle East.

So yes it is relevant.

Relevant in today's conversation but nothing to do with the biblical context.
@sree251 It is related because it covers the same geographical area.
