The famous "Golden Rule," which states, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" seems to have been

Forgotten by some theocracies on this planet. Perhaps that is also the way to prevent mistreatment. It can go both ways you know. You treat others bad, then, perhaps it's fair to treat your people badly until you stop. Do not reward bad behavior.

There are going to be a lot of disappointed people in the hereafter.

@FoxyGoddess it seems pretty obvious that the leaders of those theocracies have no worries of Gods vengeance. Nor do the people who support it (actively or passively).

@Tastyfrzz I've watched quite a few documentaries on Christian Nationalism and while I'd like to blame to followers, it is the leaders of these churches that are to blame. They have performed the cultish bait and switch on their followers, turning them deliberately away from god and towards politics using fear of demons, hell and damnation. I can only hope their god is as forgiving as they believe, but the word is pretty strong: you are responsible for your own salvation. Of course, that also just means to believe jesus is the son of god. The rest doesn't matter.
