Has it reached the point when we celebrate the deaths of people we don’t agree with?
How appalling

@meJess in the Bible, when the Israelites danced watching Pharaoh's army drown, God is reported to say, why are you rejoicing at the death of my people?
meJess · F
@samueltyler2 Hate is always foolish and love is always wise. Never be cruel or cowardly and if you are always make amends.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@meJess I reserve the term hate for a very few.
bijouxbroussard · F
@meJess MAGA is appalling and they’ve shown no regard whatsoever for human life when it belongs to people different from themselves. 😞
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@meJess It's not because I disagree with him. It's not really possible to disagree with somebody who has no opinion or positions on anything of import , apart from what benefits him personally. I will celebrate his demise because the world will be rid of a singularly malignant character who managed to poison and corrupt anyone and everyone who came into contact with him. His pernicious legacy will be with us for a long long time but at least his death will mean that the man himself can cause no more harm.

@meJess Hi there, it has come to the conclusion that DJT is a serious threat to our own lives through his actions and his base followers. Already many people have died or been seriously hurt by him so this is not simply a disagreement, it’s a threat that is growing larger every day.
bijouxbroussard · F
@meJess Do you embrace your enemies ? I can’t.
meJess · F
@bijouxbroussard there is a difference between embracing and celebrating death. Has American politics become so polarised that you have enemies instead of people you disagree with?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@meJess i don't like to admit it, but yes, things have gotten so bad that i cannot find a way to be civil with some MAGA people! they really have evil thoughts, they seem out to control the minds of the people, this is right out of the totalitarian playbook that never ends well.
AbstractWave · 61-69, M
@meJess yes it has
bijouxbroussard · F
@meJess Perhaps you don’t fully grasp what’s going on here. One side has decided that they want power badly enough to have abandoned the rule of law. Their candidate even encouraged them to take up arms against our government when he lost the 2020 election, and there were deaths as a result.
In any other situation, any other country, they would’ve remained in prison, and Trump would’ve joined them there. Instead, even as a convicted criminal he was allowed to run again, where his supporters reelected him and he used his position to pardon these insurrectionists.
This has not been business as usual, nor is it “just hyperbole". Trump vowed to get even with his political enemies (exactly the term he used) if he ever got back into power and has proceeded to attempt just that. Anyone who doesn’t realize that Trump sees this situation in our country as much more serious than a "disagreement” hasn’t been paying attention. Or they’re so comfortable in their privilege that they don’t see it affecting them or anyone they care about.

@bijouxbroussard i am agreeing, not happily though
bijouxbroussard · F
@samueltyler2 I’m certainly not happy about it. The job of president is that of leader of the entire country, not just the party that elected him. And Trump’s made it clear from the onset that he’s not only not interested in “reaching across the aisle", he’s wanted to make the lives of non-MAGAs as difficult as possible, seeing us as his enemies, not just people who "disagree” with him. It astonishes me that there are still those who don’t realize this.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard he and his family are bringing in more money for themselves, than most countries of the world have a annual revenue. The administration is recording centuries of social progress. I just don't understand how so many people ignore what is right in front of their noses.
bijouxbroussard · F
@samueltyler2 Are you serious ? This country has a deficit under his administration the likes of which hasn’t been seen before.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard you did read what i write. His family has enriched themselves in the billions! I never said the country, although if you count the tariffs they have brought in money, by raising our taxes through subrafuge.
bijouxbroussard · F
@samueltyler2 I read what you wrote before you edited it. With the clarification I wouldn’t have asked the question.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard i corrected it almost immediately, you are really fast. Lol.
shinyplasticlove · 51-55, M
@meJess I agree. Nobody deserves to die.
bijouxbroussard · F
@shinyplasticlove Arguably, nobody deserves to be murdered. But all of us are going to die, eventually. Good or bad. People celebrated when Bin Laden was killed, and I bet they considered themselves good people, too. But he was a bad man who caused evil.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@shinyplasticlove i am opposed to the death penalty, but do wonder what i would feel for punishment of those committing mass murder? Did the Nazi leaders deserve execution?

@shinyplasticlove This is the thing. The OP didn’t ask anything about torturing or murdering the man. But to a lot of people Trump’s had more than “disagreements”, he’s made a point of trying to ruin their lives. To them, his passing even naturally would probably be a relief.
