Trigger warning ⚠ ‼ ⛔ politics

i’m putting a trigger warning because I don’t want to shove politics down everyone’s throat sometimes when you create a space where you discuss politics a lot often times that’s all people want to discuss because that’s what they relate with you and that can become very exhausting

This gives people the opportunity to engage if they want to, and not feel like they are receiving unsolicited information

But I find it very concerning how leftists openly endorse and support this person (many like Barack Obama have absolutely declined to endorse him) but won’t acknowledge this photo. I brought it up multiple times to multiple different people (online) and they just ignore me.

Mandami was finally confronted about being photographed with her and his response was he didn’t know who she was

I guess I would have to say I'm leftist and part Centrist. However I'm not so eager to jump into Mandani's pool of followers and endorsers. Often times when things get real bad people are looking for a hero.
One that will stand up to the villain and they quickly latch on to someone that they think could be that person. Eager to believe what they hear and see about that person. I tend to air on the side of common sense. Watch, observe, let the whole thing breathe a bit so you can see where someone's coming from. Unfortunately with elections there's not a lot of time for that. A lot of people that don't endorse him, most likely have insight to the bigger picture that the common folks don't have fully comprehension of. IMHO, when you're standing that close with someone for a photo and your politician looking to make friends and people that will side with you or help you down the road, he would surely know who she is. I don't buy it for a minute. I think people should quit letting their excitement rule their judgment.
For the record, I felt the same way about Obama in the beginning and through most of his presidency. In politics it's keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
He may be doing that with her.... or worst case, not be at all who he portrays himself to be. I certainly wouldn't be cozying up to someone that wants to put gay people in jail but I'm not a politician.

That's fair. Mamdani takes thousands of pics with people, he can't be expected to know everyone. I can understand if he took a pic with someone like Putin, we all know who that is. But I guarantee most Americans, including politicians, have no idea who Kadaga is.

@DeluxedEdition I didn't say I was ok with her politics, I said it's fair that Mamdani didn't know who she was. I didn't know either.

I'm not a New Yorker, so it's not really my business yet. I'll watch for his record while mayor and if he tries for something bigger I'll make a judgement on what he's done, not who he knows. I do not believe I'll ever need to make a choice on whether to vote for him or not. He's not a natural born citizen so he's never going to run for president.

If he starts pushing hate himself then I may argue against him. So far all I've seen is attempts to smear him before he's even had a chance to try.

I believe many countries in Africa including Uganda are experiencing catastrophic population booms. They could use a larger gay community to thwart that!!

@wildland
Uganda population 2010: 34M
Uganda population 2024: 47M

Seems like a problem to me.

If you’re going to write a snide comment back it up with facts.

@Muthafukajones the only problem is Africa has a lot of problems with police brutality

Even with the activism. Many African activists have been shot and killed for being activists

I don’t see the activism helping much

I’m not trying to be negative

That is so crazy.
Hopefully, at least in NYC The LGBTQ and groups within that community who espouse things like “ queers” or “trans” for Palestine, wake up to reality of who this Mamdani really is.

@soar2newhighs They copied that from the Jewish Babylonian Talmud.

I for one, being a Leftist Centrist, did not know this about Mamdani. I didn't know who the woman was in the picture. To be honest never heard of her. I cannot support someone that would support someone that would kill or imprison gays or any group of people (except maybe tRumsters..LOL 🤣) If this is true about Mamdani it's horrific. just my 2 cents.

Life imprisonment is giving them a break. Most want the death penalty
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP nobody deserves to be killed for being gay

We are better than that. We aren’t barbarians
