DHS Denounces Dem Plan For ‘Master ICE Tracker,’ Warns There Will Be ‘Consequences’
The Trump administration on Wednesday denounced a Democrat plan to create “a master ICE tracker” in California, warning that there will be “consequences” for those who obstruct federal law enforcement.
During a press conference Monday, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) and Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) announced plans to launch a website tracking Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity (ICE) activity across the Los Angeles area.
Garcia stated that the new platform was coming as part of an investigation he is leading into ICE detentions as the ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) is leading a similar investigation as the ranking member of the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
Democrats claim there have been “more than 170 cases this year where American citizens were detained at raids and protests.” Most of those cases involved individuals who allegedly interfered with or assaulted law enforcement officers.
“Over the course of the next couple of weeks, the Oversight Committee will be launching on their website a master ICE tracker where we’re going to be essentially tracking every single instance that we can verify that the community will send. You’ll be able to send us information on. It’ll be all available in one central place, and you’ll be able to look up that information as it relates to Los Angeles as well,” Garcia announced at the press conference Monday.
The Democrat plan for a “master ICE tracker” comes amidst a 1,000 percent increase in assaults against ICE law enforcement and increased harassment against their family members.
At an anti-ICE protest in LA just this week, a school teacher warned federal agents that they’re “not the only ones with guns,” Fox News reported on X.
“This is South Central Los Angeles, they are not—they are not the only ones with guns in this city!” the man bellowed to the anti-ICE crowd. He added that “people have the right to defend themselves against masked, unidentified gunmen with AR-15s and other military rifles.”
The Department of Homeland Security responded to the Democrats’ anti-ICE gambit in a statement posted to social media on Wednesday.
“ICE tracking apps and websites directly put the lives of ICE law enforcement and their families in danger,” DHS stated on X.
“Less than a month after a deranged gunman — who used an ICE tracking app to plan his attack — opened fire at the Dallas ICE facility, California politicians are pushing to publicize information would further jeopardize officer safety,” DHS stated.
The September 24 attack on the Dallas ICE facility left three detainees shot, with one confirmed dead and two injured. The left-wing gunman, 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“Anyone who actively obstructs law enforcement in the performance of their sworn duties or assaults law enforcement, including U.S. citizens, will face consequences,” DHS posted on X.
Earlier this month, Apple removed two apps that were helping users track and avoid ICE agents after the Trump administration issued legal threats.
On Tuesday, Attorney General Pam Bondi also lashed out at the California Democrats over their “master ICE tracker” plan.
“Shutdown Democrats are already refusing to pay our law enforcement agents. Now, @RepRobertGarcia and @SenBlumenthal are trying to put ICE agents at risk just for doing their jobs,” Bondi stated on X.
