Will the rest of the world put sanctions on the United States after Trump goes behind congress's back to murder all the Venezuelans?

I mean that's what he's saying he's going to do so it makes me wonder if the UN will get involved if things get rough.

If anyone was actually serious about their rhetoric they should. But it won't happen.

Hell I don't even trust the rest of the west to do anything if Trump tried to annex Canada.

That being said I believe sanctions are very straightforwardly crimes against humanity. It is collective punishment which is explicitly banned by the Nuremberg Accords.

At least Madeline Albright was honest that starving civilians (or in the case of countries like Russia trying) is the point.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow No, crippling sanctions are very necessary against Countries like Russia.
@BritishFailedAesthetic They are not. They are objectively crimes against humanity and have never in the history of the idea ever worked as the pretext claims they are supposed to. Weaponizing hunger and poverty is never ok.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I wanted to say I agree with you about sanctions. It is punishment against c citizens too. I just don't know what else could be done (even though I know nothing can be done it's just hypothetical) because Trump can't just murder entire countries
@SatanBurger Well there are two ways that have worked for the last thousand or so years but both are ugly and involve things getting worse before things improve and that is military occupation or a coup.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I kinda wish the entire military would just say no. To me it's easy cos they can't court martial the whole military is the whole military was just like yeah.. no 👎

I don't get why people think no isn't an option.
@SatanBurger Same. Or at least be ready to disobey orders and report whatever the higher ups want to hear. And I mean yeah. The reality is though he does have some support in the military just alot less in the top brass now. Even conservative outlets are talking about it.

A general told the Washington Post (the conservative paper) that they see Hegseth as a typical junior officer (which he was) put into a position he is in no way equipped to do and in over his head and micro managing because he has no idea what else to do.

The brass is also not impressed with the style over substance bullshit with Hegseth and that careers are being interfered with based on perceived political party loyalties.

What is also terrifying is actually the boost in recruit numbers.

Because as someone who comes from a military family I can tell you part of what Hegseth said during that tirade he called a speech was that they were lowering professionalism standards as long as your facial hair and uniform looks good.

So the new standard is "we don't care if you shoot civilians, just look good doing it and have good PT scores."

So basically the ICE "we will take violent nut" just with better fitness standards.
@SatanBurger So basically you will have more grunts that are out of control and the people who would keep them in line are being forced out or are just leaving on their own.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Just for the fact Trump even has enough support to do what he does is why I no longer believe in our system as a whole. People shouldn't even entertain the idea.

Now that I think about it though sanctions are bad and I didn't think about the after effects on civilians. It's not like I have any power, I was only entertaining a hypothetical as possible solutions.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow That's pretty scary. It makes me wonder of what's to come with our military
