Where did you run across this information?

So it’s ok for NATO ( which is America ) wanting to put missiles in Ukraine, aimed at Russia, but America wouldn’t allow china to do the exact same thing, a bit hypothetical, don’t you think ?

@ididntknow They now are all paying their fair share.

@ididntknow

" would NATO survive, without American money, as far as I know, America put about 70% of the NATO budget in,"

That 70% was approximately correct in dollars spent during 2023, but if you take into account PPP (purchasing power parity), as this chart does, the figure is about 55%.

https://militaryppp.com/2025/02/14/nato-members-bang-for-the-buck/

And European military spending has increased substantially since 2023, thanks to Putin's "special military operation" in Ukraine.

I would guess the 2025 PPP figures would find the US spending about the same or even less than the rest of NATO, which would be about right, since the EU GDP is about the same as the US GDP.
Not happening on many levels.

Where in the hell did that come from. China has no intentions of doing that. If you're going to deploy missiles and or artillery you also have to have a sizable logistics force to support it along with a defense force.

It's not like setting up a couple of bottle rockets.
dpoet · 36-40, M
@MoveAlong actually, it is. it's just moving TEL ICMB's. which is irrelevant because they already have more than enough range to target USA from China since decades ago.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
🤣

Uh, huh. And you missed what the U.S. response would be. Several hundreds free nuke for Taiwan. Maybe a half-dozen SSBNs, a dozen B-2 bombers, etc.
dpoet · 36-40, M
that's completely absurd and irrelevant. china has ICBM missiles capable of reaching the entirety of USA since DECADES ago.

@cherokeepatti Nah, it's some lib with an elevated ego that believes he is more intelligent than the rest of the world? If China, or Russia, for that matter, thought that they could get away with that and survive, they would have already tried it.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@TexChik

The Soviet Union did try it, causing the Cuban missile crisis in 1962.
TexChik · F
@Thinkerbell Yep , the Monroe doctrine is still in effect.
