Should the USA let go of Puerto Rico?

And let it be its own country? What about other US territories? Guam, US Virgin Islands, American Samoa?

Puerto Rico doesnt want to be its own country and its status as a US colony makes it wealthier than the surrounding Carribean nations. I think we could stand to be nicer to them and treat them more as equals to us mainlanders.

Depends on what the people there want. They should have annual referendums in those lands to see if the people want to become a state, their own country, or keep the current arrangment.
DC wants to be a state but the Republicans keep blocking that because, well, black people.

Puerto Rico keeps voting to remain as it is. The US is not forcing it to remain. But it will lose the benefits of being in the US.
Yes. By now there's no Puerto Rico. The population would not be in favor of being a country or whatever! It's clueless! Americanized. Okay, "Americanisado", just to make sure they didn't mean to say a THING to me! Fake hespanische. But not talking to me!

Curious isn’t it that a country that hates empires is so desperate to be one.

Remember the Philippines had to fight the USA for its own independence?
