Government shutdown update: Trump, Democrats emerge from meeting without a deal

If funding expires at midnight on Sept. 30 a shutdown will start at 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 1.

For weeks, Democrats have been urging Republicans to address a list of very reasonable requests primarily related to health care in exchange for their votes to keep the government open.

The Democratic Party has united around demands to reverse recent Medicaid cuts and extend enhanced health insurance subsidies in the Affordable Care Act that are set to expire at the end of the year.

"We laid out to the president some of the consequences of what is happening in health care," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said after the meeting. "By the way he looked, I think he heard about them for the first time."

Once again the MAGA’s are screwing a disproportionate number of their own constituents particularly in deep Red states—most of whom are not even aware of what the Republicans have hidden in their legislation.

Trump and his cronies are cutting healthcare funding at home while preparing to bail out Argentina's failing economy to the tune of 20-30 billion dollars. The MAGAts have for years portrayed Argentina's right wing leaders example of what deep cuts to the poor and middle class can do for the economy. But it hasn't worked out that way. As predicted the Argentine economy is on the verge of collapse and looking for US taxpayer dollars to prop it up.

Economist see that as an example of what will happen in the US.

@MoveAlong Remember that wise saying we all learned as young children:

“Those who do not learn from history are DOOMED to repeat it.”

The low IQ tRUMP misadministration is making it abundantly clear!

This is a nobody wins situation and I'm sick of it. The only legislation that should be attached to the bill is that the Government will continue to be funded unless Congress votes to NOT fund it. This thing of having to vote to fund the Government every few months is ridiculous.
