@dale74 Well, regardless what people say, it almost seems that morality is subjective not objective. The age of consent is not a universal law . Which makes people like me think is it truly that evil a 16 year old to be with 24 year. AM I condition to see as a one of the greatest evil. I speak of mild pedophilia though not the straight up messed up one.

@RisingMorningStar7 yes. In Holland today it's twelve. Teen births were the Majority of births when I was born. I went to school and was treated like a child for more than half my reproductive years. It's a backward country.

@Roundandroundwego I wouldn't say backwards I think something are hard to explain. But yea 12 years old is to young. I'm talking more about 26 year-olds with 17 years-old. It kind of harsh that this sort of people get killed in prison.

@RisingMorningStar7 backward, unlearned, ignorant about human sexuality. Twelve is not too young. Society is twisted up. Sex is supposed to be happening for kids, not delayed.
I'm old enough to remember normal development when it could happen, and it's never ever normal, now - delayed is not better.

@RisingMorningStar7 Probably going to be accused of a bunch of things because I did the last time this came up but whatever. Based on my read of your post you do raise some valid points. Consent laws should be based on actual ability to give meaningful consent. Not an arbitrary number. Age of consent is arbitrary and vastly different in many countries. Here in Canada and I am only in my early 40s age of consent went from 13 to 16 (17 if the older person is in a position of power). And it has had zero meaningful impact on anything.


None of these numbers are based on actual mental development and ability to understand situations based on brain development. If it was age of consent would be closer to the drinking age in the US in people's 20s.

And nobody can convince me that a 16 year old will magically be able to sus out a manipulator in 12 months.

Age of consent also does nothing to protect people with developmental disabilities who have the mental capacity of a child.

The whole thing is a mess.


Oh and fun fact. A former Canadian Minister of Public safety was in violation of the age of consent law they raised and nothing happened. The whole thing was a mess. and proves it doesn't actually mean anything meaningful will be done.
