People need to stop saying the left is at fault for this or the right is at fault for that.

Some guy was crazy enough to kill another human being on air. It's not that different from the many mass shootings our country has experienced. We are mentally ill as a nation, paranoid, and trying to blame it on one another. And as I say, we will starve ourselves in the pursuit of absolute security.

As investigators dig more and more into the shooter's background and state of mind, it is becoming more and more clear what his motivation was. And it is crystal clear now that the shooting was politically motivated. Was he crazy? I don't know. That remains to be seen. But he was very clearly angry with Charlie's message and wanted it silenced.

@sarabee1995 on the surface, maybe. But it seems more like he had issues with his family/community’s conservative beliefs and this was his way to attack that. Charlie embodied that which caused him angst.

@trollslayer I think we are saying the same thing.

He developed very left leaning views which conflicted with his conservative family.
And he considered Charlie to be a fascist who paralleled many of those views.
He then sought to silence Charlie not because he had brown hair, but because he espoused those views.
