Imagine people being so fragile that they sue someone for quoting a person's actual statements.

In case you didn't catch this Stephen King is being threatened with a lawsuit for simple re-posting a small list of statements by Charlie Kirk.

They wanted Charlie to have freedom of speech while he was alive. Now they want to shut him down when quoted posthumously? Ridiculousness

People need to verify quotes, tho... and make sure to include the complete quote. There are plenty of interesting Kirk quotes to quote.
@faery Yep. Wonder how he would feel about his views being sanitized after his death because his views were not politically convenient to the right wing agenda at this particular moment.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I don't know how he'd actually feel, but he'd say he felt however Trump tells him to say he feels. He quit calling for the Epstein files in August after a call from an irritated Trump.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow he would be ok with it if it helped trump and the republicans

Stephen King apologized Friday for claiming that the conservative activist Charlie Kirk “advocated stoning gays.” King made the initial assertion in a since-deleted social media post written after Kirk was shot and killed Sept. 10 at an event he was hosting at Utah Valley University.

“I apologize for saying Charlie Kirk advocated stoning gays. What he actually demonstrated was how some people cherry-pick Biblical passages,” the 77-year-old author wrote on the social media platform X.
@goliathtree 100% projection.

You demonstrate your immaturity all on your own.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow some day when you are out of short pants you might understand...but go on.
@goliathtree What stephen king said there is not wrong.

The amount of grandstanding, virtue signaling, and generally performative action right now is just staggering.

The ones who were most against "cancel culture" are now trying to get anyone who says anything negative about Charlie Kirk canceled...
@WestonT Including trying to ban people from sharing his own words outside the right wing echo chamber.

He should stick to horror novels 😅
@BritishFailedAesthetic He literally just reposted Charlie Kirk's own words. If that hurts your feelings that is on you.

This is not something you can just pretend is virtue signaling because you don't want to hear the truth.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow It's not really about that It's about the insensitivity of people to a grieving family over a dead husband and father.

Looking at the photos of his grieving wife really reminded me how twisted it is that people are treating this as one big joke.
@BritishFailedAesthetic It is exactly what this is about. People throwing tantrums because they are suddenly clutching their pearls at his own words.

It is not a joke. But nobody mourns the objectively wicked.

And using his family to shield him from criticism is just childish and sad.

Being a husband and father doesn't magically make him a good person.

It is emotional manipulation to browbeat people into pretending he was a good person.

@EBSVC Oh for sure. Especially on religion there is as many videos of him completely contradicting himself for different audiences.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Yup. But people will still use it to paint him as just some moderate but who gives a shit

Nothing that is about to happen is because of this, it was inevitable
