Why we are seeing increasing political violence in America

In my view, we are seeing more political violence because the mechanisms for peaceful debate and change have been shut down by the corporate/billionaire takeover of our political system. And by conspiracy websites encouraging hate and violence.

Trump, Republicans in congress and the Supreme court are ignoring the constitution. Since any substantive peaceful change is blocked, people become frustrated and resort to violence. When peaceful change is impossible then violent change is inevitable.

Other facts: Charlie Kirk ridiculed Paul Pelosi when he was violently assaulted. Kirk was a monger of hate. He did his best to whip up hate and fear of the "other", anyone who is perceived as different. Kirk did everything he could to block sane gun control laws. No doubt he was on the take from the gun industry, those merchants of death.

I wish Charlie Kirk all of the compassion that he's shown to others.

People are living in their own little echo chambers, their own personal bubbles of reality where we only ever see facets of other individuals. Online, we're all a bunch of nameless, faceless mouthpieces for some such opinion or identity label. In reality, we're comprised of a multitude of opinions and identities that make each of us unique.

But when we can't learn to see aspects of ourselves in others, to find that common ground, it creates a void in perception that people fill by categorization. That directly paves the way for stereotypes and assumptions, for characterizations, and eventually for dehumanization depending on which of our biases we feed.
