Charlie Kirk

For the record, I'm a conservative and christian but if I were American I'd never be a Trump supporter. This recent posting on Youtube says it all for me. Good one to watch

Before I read your post, I'd never heard of this Charlie Kirk character. After reading the comments, I'm sure I wouldn't have liked him. In fact, I made a post against sympathy just last week, having no knowledge of this guy or his take on empathy. Although I agree, I think I agree for a different reason, but had I known about this guy and his outspoken take on empathy, I doubt I would have made my post against sympathy.

All that aside, it doesn't matter how much of a douchebag this guy was. As an American, he was born with the right to speak freely. None of the outlandish, foul-mouthed rhetoric this clown spewed was worthy of a death sentence. To say it was is a slippery slope to the point where you get a death sentence for anything you say. .."you" being anyone who believes Charlie Kirk deserved to die because of his beliefs and his proclivity with which to speak publicly about them.

This sort of thing is what martyrs are made of. Whoever thought they were solving a problem by killing this otherwise innocent man may have just made it exponentially worse, especially considering the tactics of the side for which he played/plays still.

..on a lighter note, the dude in the video needs to get his dentures shimmed or realigned or something. The way he whistles through his bottom teeth was a big distraction for me. I kept expecting them to fall out of his mouth and do that repeatedly biting thing as they marched off out of view, ..like those old wind-up novelty teeth from the past..
..just saying 😬😏🫣

@Jayciedubb The dude in the videao is an historian. Just think him in the tweed jacket. And you're right about two remarks. I didn't like Mr. Kirk but if politics is now murder and mayhem to come, well, we're doomed alright
@Jayciedubb Nope, Kirk didn't deserve a death sentence. What many of us are noting, however, is that Kirk considered extra deaths due to gun violence to be an acceptable price to pay for minimal gun control.

"I think it's worth to have a cost of unfortunately some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the 2nd Amendment. That is a prudent deal. It is rational. Nobody talks like this. They live in a complete alternate universe."
Charlie Kirk at the Salt Lake City campus of Awaken Church on April 5, 2023.

The irony is stunning, but if Kirk is OK with dying for lax gun laws, who am I to argue??

@ElwoodBlues yea, but that's not what the post is about, nor is the video. Its about the opposite of what everyone is ranting about. Everyone is giving the action the power to divide when unity is the direction we should be heading in. I dont mean politically. ..i mean spiritually. As divided people, we are easily conquered

Edit:
Remember you said that about questioning who you are to argue. .. it may come back to bite you

@val70 i figured he was something. I just made the light hearted remark about his dentutes to lighten things up a little. Everyone's so serious

@Jayciedubb I guess everyone is frightened for the things to come

@val70
but if politics is now murder and mayhem to come,

Murder in recent times has been against the law and people been offing politicians since Roman times and even before that. It's at least more than 2,000 years old and now everyone is scared like they just got the memo or something 🤔
val70 · 51-55
@SatanBurger You really need to get over the fact that America has already existed since Roman times. I mean, of course, you're wrong about the use of precedent there yet again. As modernism goes, it's what in the recent decades happened that's important. What happened to politics since the death of both Kennedy brothers, lets say. Of course, even when I claim this, I remember still the shooting of Gabby Gifford for one. I'd rather claim that was still more an exception than the rule back then. What's the danger now is that the murder could be used to further the devides. And again, that was the reason for my posting on here
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@val70 What am I getting over exactly? That we have existed since Roman times, did I say it was an issue lol. You're not making sense.

What's the danger now is that the murder could be used to further the devides.

Politicians have always been murdered, nothing new
val70 · 51-55
@SatanBurger What you claimed is that "people been offing politicians since Roman times". I'm all for a more healthier system of doing politics. What was on offer even in America since recently. I leave for anyone's judgement as for the saner course between them to take
@Jayciedubb Kirk was 'disrespectful' of other victims of political violence; perhaps now he reaps what he sowed.

@ElwoodBlues well if there's a god who makes those sorts of decisions, the man is facing him now and wherever he will sow is God's decision. Not ours. Im just saying that if that God exists, you'll face him too one day. Luckily for us, we still have some control over what we might sow one day. This guy's gone man. Let him go. Im just trying to help..

We should all take this as a reminder that life is time. Time is life. We dont know how much we have until its gone, so we shouldn't waste it being petty ..or hateful. We shoukd enjoy as much of it as we can
