Why is that messed up? Harris is no longer a VP or a gov't employee. Like it or not, she has become part of "we the people" again. An average, everyday citizen that is not required to or entitled to have secret service protection anymore.

@IM5688 I found out a little more information. Apparently, what was going on was that former vice presidents were enjoying protection for 6 months after they left office, but Vice President Biden changed that to a year. Trump has now reversed that decision.
