The trouble with Socialism is that some people just WILL NOT stop consuming free stuff!!
Like when I see a drinking fountain, I drink the free water without stopping until I die of hyponatremia.

Without socialism you spend a lot more for everything. Socialism is where you do the basic work for society in the most efficient way, even the things that don't generate huge profit.
Socialism is optimal if you want a prosperous society. But you don't want socialism in the USA.
