@MasterLee Did you not read the original post? This is about the limitations of a "meritocracy" in which educational resources, employment and advancement opportunities are more likely to be allocated on the basis of who your parents are or how much you can afford to pay, than real aptitude.

Some of us are made to climb out of the gutter. Others have the silver platter.

@degraded Brains do not come oven ready. They need to be nurtured and trained by education. An apparently limited resource over which the wealthy have priority.

All the ambition and desire in the world will not make up for a poor start in life . . or being the wrong gender or ethnicity.

@SunshineGirl Education is everywhere. It is only snobs who say money makes you educated. You take the view of the elite, a woman of wealth, a comfortable princess. Yet a dreg of society, who has neither been to university nor any wish to go, may know more than you. I think they do.
