"We can work a peace deal while they're fighting."

If you’re negotiating while the blows are still flying, it’s not really peace, it’s just damage control. On the other hand, sometimes the only way you get people to the table is while the chaos is fresh, before it gets even worse. So I think it depends on whether you mean it as "let’s build a ceasefire while the fire’s burning" which is messy but possible, or whether you mean "ignore the fighting and pretend it’s peace", which isn’t really a deal at all.

From what I recall a ceasefire failed already. At least someone is trying to end this senseless war and not just giving more bombs to Ukraine.

Yeah it's like "we can't create a small ceasefire but we're totally gonna end the entire war" lol. Trump is not doing too well lately I think, I heard that many of his supporters are even making fun of him at this point. 😅
