President Says He’ll ‘Lead a Movement’ to Eliminate Mail-In Ballots

This sort of explain why seeking advice from Putin was so important to Trump during his Alaska 2025 summit.

And he got validation from Putin, so off we go, to eliminate a system that works to insure most of the non-MAGAs get to legitimately vote.

Trump said today that he would lead a movement to eliminate mail-in ballots and would sign an executive order to “help bring HONESTY to the 2026 Midterm Elections.” Trump has long opposed mail-in voting and said it was a source of fraud during the 2020 presidential election, though his attorney general at that time said that his assertions of widespread fraud couldn’t be proven

While there's legitimate concerns about ballot stuffing and things like arson, I'm pretty sure those things are overblown. There are multi-tiered systems in place to make sure it's caught and prosecuted.

In any case, it's in specific places for specific down-ballot elections. I have yet to see any proof that it's happening on scale wide enough to change the outcome of an election, despite so much rancor about it in 2020

While there's legitimate concerns about ballot stuffing and things like arson

I'm legitimately interested in learning what these rumored legitimate concerns are.

The privately financed Arizona recount turned more votes for Biden. The Georgia Republican government find nothing. The Attorney General found no fraud.

What's really clear is that those fearing these scenarios had no clue how the system works.

My state (Washington) has had systems in place for 40 years to allow no-excuse absentee ballots, and were renamed vote-in ballots, and we've not had any problems.

But Trump, who was certain Obama was born in Kenya tells us the system is rigged, so I'm sure it is, right?

@Northwest There's been elections where ballot stuffing has been caught and criminally prosecuted. I don't know all the details, Google can help you there, but it's usually for like city council or a party primary or something small scale. Either way, it didn't make a difference

I live in Washington too and love the drop box system. Wish everybody had it. I drop off my gf's ballot too because she doesn't drive. I'm sure lots of places would love it if they tried it. It beats trying to take huge chunks out of my day to pick the lesser of two evils.

@TinyViolins That's just it. Google does not give any results.

In 2023, multiple people, including a former state representative, were indicted in Michigan as part of a brazen scheme to illegally obtain and inspect election machines. Tina Peters, a former county clerk in Colorado, is serving nine years in prison for tampering with voting machines in an effort to prove that the machines had been used to rig the 2020 election against Mr. Trump.

But the president has called Ms. Peters a “political prisoner” and called for her release. Mr. Trump also stated a desire to criminally prosecute state and local election officials while he was running for office in 2024. And Project 2025, the conservative blueprint for a second Trump administration, also pushed for using the Justice Department to prosecute election officials.

However, this is not related to ballot stuffing.

@Northwest You should probably look up ballot stuffing then if you're getting something completely unrelated. The examples I looked at resulted in jail time

@TinyViolins Looks like you got results from Google, so perhaps you can share them.

@TinyViolins If you have evidence of "ballot stuffing" please share your resources. I would also like to see some VALID proof.

@plinkplonk Literally took me 2 seconds

Yes, individuals convicted of ballot stuffing have received jail time.
Examples
Former Congressman Michael J. “Ozzie” Myers was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for ballot stuffing and other related crimes in connection with his work with election officials to pad vote tallies for his clients.
Former Lincoln County Commissioner Thomas Ramey was sentenced to 21 months in prison after pleading guilty to lying to federal officers during their investigation into a voter fraud conspiracy involving ballot stuffing and absentee ballot fraud.
Sheriff Jerry Bowman and County Clerk Donald Whitten, also involved in the Lincoln County case, were sentenced to a year and one day in federal prison and 18 months in prison respectively, along with supervised release and fines.
Janice Lee Hart received a suspended sentence of 12 months in county jail for each of eight misdemeanor counts of attempted absentee ballot fraud, resulting in two years of probation per count.
Lesa Coleman was found guilty of seven felony counts of absentee ballot fraud and received a three-year split sentence, serving 180 days in jail followed by three years of probation.
These examples demonstrate that individuals found guilty of ballot stuffing and related forms of election fraud can face serious penalties, including prison sentences.

@TinyViolins Myers bribed people (judges, election workers, etc) to add votes to certain candidates that paid him, during the primaries.

This had nothing to do with ballot stuffing, and these votes were added after ballots were counted. https://www.justice.gov/usao-edpa/pr/former-us-congressman-and-philadelphia-political-operative-sentenced-30-months-prison

Lincoln County Commissioner Thomas Ramey, Jr. 2012 case. At the time, the regulations stated that you had to have a legitimate reason to ask for an absentee ballot. He used his position to falsify 100 applications for people who were not eligible to request an absentee ballot.

Ramey admitted that on February 7, 2012, he lied to an investigator to conceal his involvement in an illegal absentee voting conspiracy. His partner in crime was Previously, former Lincoln County sheriff.

Not a ballot stuffing case.

Janice Lee Hart: this was a 2014 case. She was convicted of falsifying signatures and choices on a few ballots. She claimed she knew these people and received probation, and something like a $40 fine.

Not a ballot stuffing case.

Lesa Coleman: same case as Janice Lee Hart

Not a ballot stuffing case.

Literally took me 2 seconds

You should have spent it on something more useful. Every one of these cases you cited involved "ballot fraud", not ballot stuffing, which is what we're discussing here.

@TinyViolins Here, it took me a nanosecond to google this: what is ballot stuffing:

https://ballotpedia.org/Ballot_stuffing

Ballot stuffing or ballot box stuffing is a form of electoral fraud in which a greater number of ballots are cast than the number of people who legitimately voted. The term refers generally to the act of casting illegal votes or submitting more than one ballot per voter when only one ballot per voter is permitted
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@Northwest The link you provided literally disproves your earlier point on Ramey and your subsequent attempts to split hairs

Ballot stuffing can include other forms of electoral fraud, such as the following examples:

Absentee ballot vote fraud: Ballot stuffing can occur when a person attempts to fill out and turn in absentee ballots under the names of false or non-existent voters.
Fraud by election officials: Ballot stuffing can occur through manipulation of ballots by officials administering the election, such as tossing out ballots or casting ballots in voters' names.
Votes cast in the names of deceased people: Ballot stuffing can occur when a living person fraudulently casts a ballot in the name of a deceased person who remains on a state's official list of registered voters..

And this time don't include the Heritage Foundation, which is where you seem to be getting all your information.

And stop splitting Heritage Foundation hairs.

@Northwest Seems you should learn to read. I'm literally showing you what is written on the link YOU provided explaining ballot stuffing
