Pop Quiz: Can The President Order The National Guard To Deploy To D.C.

Trump claimed that back on Jan 6th, 2021, he could not deploy the National Guard to D.C., because Pelosi did not improve.

Did SCOTUS or Congress vote in extra powers for him? Because this morning, he said he's deploying the National Guard.

PS: I am being facetious. He had the legal authority to do it in 2021 and did not anyone to approve it.

no, it is against the law

but the law is broken

@SatyrService The President can order the D.C. National Guard to deploy to Washington, D.C., because the D.C. National Guard is under federal control and does not have a state governor to provide authorization, unlike state National Guards. The President delegates the authority to the Secretary of Defense and then to the Secretary of the Army to activate the D.C. National Guard.
@Northwest thanks for the update
but he is doing so under false pretext

Northwest · M
@SatyrService That if it's permissible in 2025, then it was permissible on Jan 6th, 2021.
