The problem with trying to get even with maga-Republicans with a road rage mentality
There is a fringe movement that is loud and effeminate that is shrilly calling for "nuclear options" to counter the playbook written for Cry-Baby-trump's authoritarianism. To combat his assault on democracy, this movement of Steve Bannon-like alternate-strategists, they call for Democrats gutting democracy to save democracy.
James Carville, an independent pundit always on the hunt for views, who only recently advised Democrats to "roll over and play dead," now reverses course to order them to follow a new dog trick and pack the Supreme Court, force through Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. as states and use blue state representation to zero out all Republicans. So, basically fight anti-democracy with anti-democracy. A poison pill is the only way to win he insists: "“If you want to save democracy, I think you got to do all of those things because we just are moving further and further away from being anything close to democracy.”
Sadly, it has come to this. Carville and who basically have given up avoid getting bogged down in the feasibility of his proposals, but he and they obsess that the current political moment demands that Democrats embrace ideas that would be hard to stomach under "normal circumstances." Like warriors they are into rationalization-mode for why collateral damage is justified and necessary. After all, "this is war." Again, it's the Steve Bannon mindset, who by the way is also an independent pundit in search of and in the hunt for views.
The core problem with Cry-Baby-trump's latest attempts to turn the USA into a Soviet Union style of power center isn't a Republican or Democrat issue or solution. Both political parties are staffed with humans who will be corrupted with absolute power and like the independent pundits on both sides... some of them fine people... on both sides... are on the hunt for views. He is trying and, in some cases, successfully dismantling America, norm by norm with the totality of paving over, let's say the Rose Garden. So, the solution is also not to sit back and wait until the next election either.
It is going to take discipline, targeted strategic hits that neuter what the maga-Republicans (via Project 2025) are doing. Unfortunately, current Democrat leadership (male and female), treasured current figures (of all skin colours) don't seem up to the task. It's not necessarily their fault because they have never encountered anything like this before. They are operating like boomers trying to navigate a smart screen while beaming with pride they still rely on a flip phone (and I'm not only talking about Chuck Schumer). But, let's be clear... it's not an age thing. A younger age person is not going to be able to lead the charge because of his/her age.
The Democrats do have an opportunity to save democracy, but it won't be by burning it to the ground with sanctimonious fervor that Carville and his ilk are clamoring for. As Lincoln didn't win the Civil War by trying to mimic the Confederacy times-10, these are times that call for preserving democracy WITH democracy. What are your ideas? Serious inquiries and suggestions will be addressed. All others will be left untouched.
