Seventeen to zero!

I've been getting really annoyed at all these "good government" type Dems and leftists who think politics is a whiffleball sport, that we need to play nice with MAGA and only threaten to re-district Congressional maps if Texas does it.

To hell with what Texas does! Ohio or Florida, too.

Dems need to get off their asses and re-district now!

Lets make Illinois solid blue. That's right, 17-0! Send Mike Bost, Darin LaHood and Mary Miller out looking for new jobs!

You out there in California! Gov. Newsom. Stop talking about and DO it! Same with you, Maryland Gov. Moore and New Jersey Gov. Murphy. Stop talking and start acting!

And there's a congressional district for taking in Maine. Get rid of the "independent" commission. Maine should be represented by two Democrats, not a 1-1 split state. And given that electoral votes are awarded by district (with another two for the overall winner), Democrats are throwing away an electoral vote. The Republicans are going to screw Omaha's vote anway.

I'd create a pinwheel based in Manhattan for New York's districts and work outward from that. Another pinwheel from Buffalo.

Some timid Dems will say that taking safe seats apart to spread the wealth could be dangerous. More dangerous than what exactly? More dangerous than the fascist administration in power now?

It does no good to have a 212-219 minority in the House or even 217-218. A majority is needed to control the gavel in the committees.

Well, that's a bit extreme and either party zeroing out the other is neither a solution nor much of a future. The sad truth and dirty secret is that any person or party given "too much" power will tend to abuse it. Sadly, that's human nature (males, females, Republicans, maga-Republicans, Democrats). Neutering what Texas is trying to do makes more sense. Taking a road rage attitude will leave no survivors and very little long-term satisfaction.

Well, that's a bit extreme...

Extremism is what we have in the White House right now.

I don't believe you disagree with that.

@beckyromero So, instead of controlling, mediating, and mitigating road rage, you think everyone should exhibit road range to level the playing field. That's really what you endorse?

@MarkPaul

Do you think you can "mediate" with the likes of Donald Trump, Abbott, DeSantis and MAGA?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@beckyromero You think you can successfully zero them out, maintain you are FOR democracy, and put all your faith in Democrats to not become intoxicated with full and absolute power?

@MarkPaul

Doing as I suggest would actually make all the districts more competitive since it would reduce the lopsided advantages the Democrats (and Republicans) have in the districts they currently represent.

@beckyromero Doing what you suggest might feel good in the moment (like releasing road rage) but serve no productive purpose in bringing things back to normal. Doing what I suggest, neutering each anti-democratic action of the maga-Republicans and no more, will deliver the results without the drama. But maybe it's the drama that is what you are after.

But maybe it's the drama that is what you are after.

It's a House majority that I'm after.

@beckyromero Except you seem to be focused on one-upping the opponent instead of staying focused on your stated objective. Perhaps you should re-study the chess board.
