Just How Close Was the 2024 Presidential Election?

Electoral Votes *
312 Trump
226 Harris
-----
*270 needed to win

Popular Vote
77,302,580 Trump
75,017,613 Harris

% of the Popular Vote
49.8% Trump
48.3% Harris

Pennsylvania
3,543,308 ... 50.37% Trump
3,423,042 ... 48.66% Harris
-------------
120,266 - a flip of 60,134 votes gives Harris the state's 19 electoral votes

Michigan
2,816,636 ... 49.73% Trump
2,736,533 ... 48.31% Harris
-------------
70,103 - a flip of 25,052 votes gives Harris the state's 15 electoral votes

Wisconsin
1,697,626 ... 49.60% Trump
1,668,229 ... 48.74% Harris
-------------
29,387 - a flip of 14,699 votes gives Harris the state's 10 electoral votes

A flip of 99,885 votes in the above three states as noted would have given Harris 44 more electoral votes - and the presidency, 270-268.

Any way you might look at this Harris might have lost. Yet I still think the electoral system is totally undemocratic.

The electoral system totally violates the DEMOCRATIC principle of "one man one vote". And gives power to the wealthy through PACS. Which in turn influence the votes of the people.

Remove the electorial system as well as PACS, you will have a fair and democratic system, instead of a unfair REPUBLIC.

And to the ignorant. This is not socialism, this is about democracy and nothing else.

A social democracy would remove even states rights in the tenth amendment.

Yeah I knew the ignorant would show up. The last was for the ignorant down vote.

@DeWayfarer That’s all well and good, but the Electoral College system is what we have, and it’s unlikely to change.

And it’s actually fairer to less populous states, which would have no influence on the outcome of a straight popular vote.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MyGirlPhotoswell I never said that we were a democracy.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@RedBaron It needs to change. And why the constitution can be ammended at all.

This is not about being fair to everyone when the minority take advantage of the majority.

You want less government, then go on your own! Stand on your own two feet for once.

It's not as easy as you might think.
MyGirlPhotoswell · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer You didn't? You did, and you know you did. No other time needs spent on this part.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MyGirlPhotoswell On this site I haven't changed. You are free to check any of my past post and comments over nearly the last nine years. I have always been for even a constitutional convention, because this is a Capitalistic Republic. Not a democracy or anything else but a capitalistic Republic.

I have often posted or replied with this....

You folks want a monarchy though. The very thing Franklin warned of.

This quote is the heart and soul behind "No king's day"!
Franklin correctly stated that the US is a republic. @DeWayfarer
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@jackjjackson and correctly stated that it could become a monarchy "If you can keep it". Which you folks wish to ignore.
When there is a presidential election in 28 if you’re still with us you will be proven wrong. @DeWayfarer
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@jackjjackson After you redistrict the whole country for a monarchy! Becky is not wrong on this and you know it, despite our respective disagreements.
RedBaron · M
@DeWayfarer I do stand on my feet. That’s what I do running my own business.

And just because you think it needs to change doesn’t mean it will. I don’t disagree that it should, but there are enough people who disagree that it won’t change in our lifetimes if ever.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@RedBaron I'm not talking about your business. That should be obvious.

Change can only happen if people speak out. And I am not giving up on that ever.

It takes a community to make any lasting change. A community that speaks with one voice.
Take a look at blue state districting maps. Illinois Romero’s home state looks like it was drawn by a preschooler and the billionaire governor is proud of it. @DeWayfarer
RedBaron · M
@DeWayfarer But the community doesn’t collectively desire this change.

When that happens, the status quo prevails and the community…

1. Moves on to the next crisis, and…
2. Goes back to sleep on this issue until the next presidential election.

But hey, if you wish to continue wringing your hands and blowing hot air like Billy Joel’s angry young man, knock yourself out.

@jackjjackson Look at some districts in Texas.
No different than any other state. @JSul3
JSul3 · 70-79
@jackjjackson Why is Trump entitled to five more seats in Texas?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@RedBaron I believe you are wrong. Your circle on even this site is limited for various reasons.

Yet for two right now you might look at the likes on my initial comment. Neither do I know personally, which is kind of rare for me.

My message is being heard and even liked, on a unknown site at that.
Actually it’s patriotic US citizen taxpayers who will benefit it. Has zero to do with the president. @JSul3
RedBaron · M
@DeWayfarer Your message “being heard” by a few people won’t result in any meaningful change.

But keep wringing your hands if that’s what floats your boat, and take a good look at these lyrics. Maybe you’ll recognize yourself:

“I believe I've passed the age
Of consciousness and righteous rage
I found that just surviving was a noble fight.
I once believed in causes too,
I had my pointless point of view,
And life went on no matter who was wrong or right.”
TWO people liked it? That’s a lot for you? I often get more than a dozen. Fortunately tons of people on this site support and agree with my comments and appreciate that I provide them with facts to use against leftists in their real lives. @DeWayfarer
JSul3 · 70-79
@jackjjackson So changing the districts that have zero to do with census data, because Traitor Trump tells them to.

Got it.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@RedBaron [ @RedBaron] @jackjjackson [ @jackjjackson] I have said it already,
Change can only happen if people speak out. And I am not giving up on that ever.

And it can only grow with persistence. The fact that theses are new people to me only makes that much more important.

@jackjjackson [ @jackjjackson]

Your boasting doesn't impress anyone when your own comment has zero likes below. 🤷🏻‍♂

Perhaps you are blocked by your own constituency? Because your above replies seems to be zero likes as well.

In @jackjjackson's defense, it may be the MAGAs who can't see his comments because they've blocked me. 😂 (and a small handful that I've blocked)
RedBaron · M
@DeWayfarer Unless, of course, repetition and persistence just result in people tuning it out. Doesn’t seem like you’ve considered that possibility, nor have you considered that you just don’t have an actual pulpit to preach from.

And so it goes.
