@AthrillatheHunt Mesopotamia is a region, not an ethnic group. Of the Ancient Mesopotamians, Assyrians/Syriacs still exist.

The Persian Empire is no more, Persians still exist. Nahua people still exist. Quechua and Aymara people still exist.

@basilfawlty89 Persians are now called Iranians . Only Persian things left are rugs , not people .No more Romans , only Italians. It’s comforting to know that while all men and civilizations collapse , we still march forward .

@AthrillatheHunt no. Iran is the name of the country. Has always been natively. Persians still call themselves Persian. Iran has many Iranian ethnicities like Mazandaranis, Gilaks, Lurs, Kurds, and Balochis. Have you ever spoken to an Iranian before?

Not everyone is even Iranian or Muslim there. The Armenians, Georgians, and Assyrians have their own churches and their cultures and languages are intact.

@basilfawlty89 I have friends of 3rd,4th generation American descent that still describe themselves as “Italian “ or “German”. But they aren’t . You routinely meet people who refer to themselves as Aztec , Babylonian , Phoenician?

@AthrillatheHunt my paternal grandad was a native Nahuatl speaker, buddy. Aztec was the empire (Mexica in our tongue), the ethnicity is Nahua.

@AthrillatheHunt I may regret commenting again but it might be worth adding that the way you word things makes it sound like you're trying to insult or dismiss people. I don't know if that's your intent but it's why I stopped responding when you framed one of my experiences as "watching a child die and just filing it away" or something like that. I'm not a computer.
