Active Shooter Midtown Manhattan, Leaves 4 Dead
A 27-year-old man calmly walked into the building at 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, and fatally shot an NYPD officer, who was just “trying to get some extra hours,” plus at least 3 civilians including one from Blackrock. Several others were wounded as well. The assailant shot himself on the 33rd floor after the shooting. The NYPD bomb squad was on scene as well. The 41st and 33rd floors were sealed off after the targeted attack.
The suspect was reportedly from Las Vegas, Nevada, and was identified as Shane Tamura. His target apparently was the NFL, which has an office in the building he entered. He missed his target when he went to the wrong elevator bank, according to the Mayor. He reportedly would not have been able to access the NFL offices with the security in the elevators.
A suicide note was found near Tamura’s body
