When Is A $550B Investment Not A $550B Investment

Trump announced a trade deal with Japan, where the latter will invest $500B in US projects and the US keeps 90% of the profits.

So, what's the real story?

Over the weekend, Tokyo’s chief negotiator, Ryosei Akazawa, said that only 1% to 2% of the $550 billion amount would be actual investment, with the rest coming in the form of loans and loan guarantees.

Ryosei Akazawa, said today that the government bank at the center of the investment deal would strictly review the projects it is asked to finance and approve only those that comply with Japanese law, as opposed to follow Trump's orders.

The SW MAGAs already added the profits' effects on their paychecks.=

@1490wayb The topic is:

When Is A $550B Investment Not A $550B Investment

But when you were schooled on it, you decided you want to switch it to:

who left the astronauts stranded in outer space and who brought them home??

Which is not the topic of this conversation. So, if you want to discuss that, I suggest you start a topic to address that issue specifically, and I wish you better luck, because you've certainly been schooled on the actual topic and you should use it as a learning opportunity.

@1490wayb The "problem" is exaggeration, hyperbole, and a shakier grasp of mathematics than even Elon Musk.

$5.5bn-$11bn is some way short of $550bn. If investors had made a decision based on Trump's "facts", they would be "bigly" annoyed right now.

His loose grip on reality casts doubt on "the agreements (which) are pouring in daily".

Whenever I hear about these "investments" I just assume it's BS.

@Bumbles they always lie and fudge the numbers anyway
