Police Union Head Exposes Washington PD For Downgrading Crime Reports

For years, we’ve been told to just ignore our instincts. To believe the charts, not our own eyes. But let’s be honest: when the numbers look too good to be true, it’s usually because someone is playing games. And surprise, surprise, the poster child for this deception might just be our nation’s capital.

A bombshell report from Washington, D.C. suggests the city’s woke leadership has been caught in a shameless scheme to hide the truth.

And get this—it’s not some political rival making the claim. It’s the city’s own police union blowing the whistle, accusing the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) of deliberately faking its crime stats to make Mayor Muriel Bowser’s administration look competent.

The scheme is as simple as it is audacious. Union Chairman Gregg Pemberton revealed how command staff allegedly order rank-and-file officers to downgrade serious, violent felonies into lesser offenses. A terrifying armed carjacking gets logged as a simple “theft.” A brutal stabbing is magically transformed into a minor “felony assault,” a category that conveniently isn’t included in the FBI’s national crime data. Sound outrageous? It gets worse.

“When our members respond to the scene of a felony offense where there is a victim reporting that a felony occurred, inevitably there will be a lieutenant or a captain that will show up on that scene and direct those members to take a report for a lesser offense,” Pemberton said.

“So instead of taking a report for a shooting or a stabbing or a carjacking, they will order that officer to take a report for a theft or an injured person to the hospital or a felony assault, which is not the same type of classification.”

Pemberton called the MPD’s official claim of a 26% drop in violent crime “preposterous,” stating bluntly, “This is deliberately done.”

Of course, when confronted, MPD Chief Pamela Smith read from the classic bureaucrat’s script. She delivered a bland statement about being “committed to upholding trust” and promised any “allegation of this behavior will be dealt with.”

It was a masterclass in saying absolutely nothing. Hold “members” accountable? How about the command staff who the union says gave the orders in the first place? It’s the kind of swampy, self-protecting word salad Americans are sick of hearing.

Thankfully, this bureaucratic nonsense hasn’t gone unnoticed at the highest level. President Donald Trump, who has clearly had enough of the games, is watching the chaos in D.C. and signaling that he is ready to act.

He recently reminded the city’s failing leaders that the White House has “tremendous power” to intervene when necessary. “We could run D.C.,” he stated, a clear warning that the days of fudging numbers to cover up for incompetence are coming to an end.
