Trump Administration Ends Education and Health Benefits for Illegal Immigrants, Reversing Clinton-Era Policy

The Department of Education (DOE) on Thursday announced it will end taxpayer subsidization of career, technical, and adult education programs for illegal immigrants.

The department said it is rescinding standards from the Clinton administration allowing illegal immigrants to access federal funds for those education programs, in violation of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA). The Education Department’s new interpretive rule also makes clear that illegal immigrants do not have access to Pell Grants and student loans.

Two days ago a school bus and a truck collided within city limits here on a rural road within city limits and the passengers in the truck both died. Someone remarked that school is out and why would a school bus be carrying children in the summer. It’s because they have English classes for all of the international students so they can take other classes in public schools and be able to comprehend what the teacher is talking about. Imagine how big a chunk of the school budgets is going for the cost of doing that every year, which includes transporting those students. This is only one of the costs for illegals in public schools. Their parents probably don’t speak English either. Those who jump through the hoops and take the time to do it are much more likely to prepare for moving here and that includes learning basic English to be able to communicate for jobs or college and their children are more apt to speak the language better too.
