Los Angeles Learns the Price of Defiance: ICE Has Detained 1,600 Migrants, Grinding City to a Halt

“ICE raids across Los Angeles have driven the migrant workforce into hiding, sparking concerns over the sanctuary city’s already rocky economic state. Immigration agents arrested more than 1,600 people in LA between June 6 and June 22.”

The results have been swift and dramatic. Construction sites sit empty. The famous Fashion District has turned into a ghost town, with business owners reporting sales drops of 50 percent or more. Some merchants say they’re making just $10 a day when they used to see steady crowds.

President Trump’s methodical enforcement strategy is working exactly as intended. Immigration agents on horseback patrol downtown streets, armored vehicles roll through neighborhoods, and federal law is finally being enforced. The panic among city officials is palpable – Mayor Karen Bass was caught on camera rushing to an ICE operation, shouting that agents “need to leave right now because this is unacceptable.”

Here’s what’s actually unacceptable: a major American city building its entire economic foundation on illegal activity, then crying foul when the federal government does its job. You want to know what I find rich? LA officials filed lawsuits, organized protests that cost taxpayers $32 million, and continue to resist federal authority at every turn. They’re more concerned about protecting people who broke our laws than serving the American citizens who elected them.

The Department of Homeland Security put it perfectly when Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin responded to LA’s complaints: “If there was any correlation between rampant illegal immigration and a good economy, Biden would have had a booming economy.”
