Trump Border Security Package Passes House, Expands Wall Construction to 701 Miles
The House of Representatives passed President Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill” on Thursday with a vote of 218-214, securing billions in funding for border enforcement and wall construction. Only two Republicans opposed the measure, with Representatives Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania joining Democrats in their opposition. Immigration enforcement advocates celebrated the bill’s passage as a big win for American security.
“During the previous four years, the American public endured record levels of illegal immigration, record costs and immeasurable damage to the security and well-being of the nation,” Joe Chatham, director of government relations for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, said in a public statement shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation. “The legislation passed by Congress today is critical to ensuring that our borders will remain secure beyond the current administration and that the millions of illegal aliens now in the country will be removed.”
The bill puts more than $46 billion toward wall construction and border barrier systems – money that has been needed for years. This includes 701 miles of primary wall, 900 miles of river barriers, and nearly 630 miles of secondary barriers. But the wall is just the beginning. The bill also pays for 5,000 new Customs and Border Protection officers, 3,000 new Border Patrol agents, and 200 new Air and Marine Operations agents. These brave men and women will finally have the tools and backup they need to do their jobs right.
