Paramount agreed to pay $16M to settle the defamation lawsuit with Trump.

@FoxyQueen I wish every company that is settling these lawsuits would grow some balls and stop emboldening Trump's frivolous litigation tactics, otherwise I wish the electorate would find ways to boycott companies that just immediately roll over and give in to this fascist ... if no one stands up to him things will only get worse

@BlueGreenGrey Larry Ellison, net worth north of $250 B, and a major Trump donor, is financing his nepo-baby David, who wants to create a media company, Sky Dance, that wants to buy Paramount+ and some other media companies. But Paramount+ is the crown jewel.
This deal needs the FAA approval and Trump, the petulant child wants an apology from CBS, even though CBS did not err.
So, David Ellison wants to go along with it, and has no interest in making a stand, because he supports Trump.
Some other institutions, like education, law firms, etc. are getting strong armed by Jewish right wing big money concerns, into using "anti semitism" claims, to allow Trump to have his way.

@Northwest that isn't surprising, given the reputation of Oracle ... the only good thing about the guy is SailGP
I am surprised though that Paramount is involved in aviation

@BlueGreenGrey Paramount is not involved in aviation, so I am not sure I understand the question.
Ellison is involved in SailGP to satisfy his own ego.

@Northwest I was trying to understand why the deal would require FAA approval ... did you mean FCC?
I know, but foiling catamarans are interesting to watch, aside from the fact that the foils might harm marine animals without the crew ever knowing, that's a downside

@BlueGreenGrey Sorry, typo on my part.

@Northwest no worries, thanks for clarifying

@BlueGreenGrey I think they are just settling in hopes that things will calm down and trump will take the bullseye off them. He is more than happy to censor those who don't put him in the light he thinks he deserves. That can be a death knell to many of these companies.
