McDonalds boycott starts today! Speaking truth to “quarter pounder” (with cheese) . . .

Whew . . . am I ever glad there’s a weeklong McDonalds' boycott starting today. Those drive thru lines were getting just TOO long, and if you go inside and use the kiosk it's a disaster too.

The McDonalds boycott is being promoted by “The People’s Union” (see link below). Yeah, I’d never heard of it before either. Wikipedia also appears uninformed. They list “The Peoples Union” political movements for nations such as Estonia, Slovakia, Russia, and the People’s Republic of the Ivory Coast. But not the USA. (see 2nd link below).

That doesn’t mean that The People’s Union of Amerika is some made up BS though. Even if it relies on cultural appropriation of cold war socialist language and goals. The American press is paying A LOT of attention to this boycott. Especially CNN, Newsweek, and USA Today. (wow, does that paper even still exist?)

Despite their youth and inexperience, The People’s Union got one thing right with this boycott. They did NOT time it to overlap with the 5-day long weekend which began on June-umpteenth. That certainly would have been a challenge. People go to waaaay more fast-food restaurants on weekends than they do on . . . for example, a Tuesday, like June 24th. And thank goodness the boycott will be over in time for July 4th.

Okay, enough of this hilarity. The People’s Union is deadly serious about protesting the lack of DEI programs at McDonalds. They’ve already staged unsuccessful shakedowns against Walmart, Target, and Amazon. (Full disclosure – my Amazon route driver is a transgendered African American, and they is punctual and extremely polite. I’d hate to find out that their $20 an hour wage and company provided medical, dental and vision insurance were interrupted because of some ill-conceived PR stunt.

This reporter reached out to Wendy’s and Burger King to see if they're staffing up to cope with the throngs of burger buyers who will be avoiding Mickey D’s. Some girl who answered the phone at Wendy's asked “what?” And Burger King responded: “You Rule! But no kings!”

I may try some takeout from KFC instead. So far as I can tell, they’re not destroying America through economic injustice. Only with excessive salt, and the deadly peanut oil in their deep fryers.

I’m just sayin’ . . .
