Trump says the U.S. has 'too many' holidays. How about a new one? "National Bonespurs Awareness Day."

If anything, we do not have enough!

I'd add...

January 30th - FDR's birthday
February 12th - Lincoln's birthday (fyi: so-called "President's Day" is actually Washington's birthday and not for all presidents)
September 2 - World War II Victory Day (not May 8th as Trump thinks, but May 8th would be fine for Truman's birthday)
September 3 - V-B Day ("Victory Over Britain" - the signing of the Treaty of Paris and recognition of the United States)
September 17 - Constitution Day (would help Americans to know their rights if readings of the Constitution were widespread)

First Tuesday after the first Monday in November - Citizenship Day (which would happen to be the date for federal elections)

November 11 - revert "Veterans Day" back to "Armistice Day" - the end of World War I

And let's create a new holiday to specific thank our living veterans. The best day would be Flag Day, but since we don't want Trump to think it's a holiday for him, make it the third Saturday in May (currently Armed Forces Day, which celebrates those serving) but since the branches all have their own day, this new designation would honor living veterans.

And, of course, leave all the other federal holidays in place.

If Trump wants a holiday for himself, I suggestion "National Bonespurs Awareness Day." Make it the day he dodged the draft. Oh, wait. Which time would that be, since there was more than one time?

I don't get holidays, I clean your toilets as an independent contractor, legal everywhere capitalism wins, so I get no vacation, no sick days, no holidays.
You impress me bigly, there's always someone like me cleaning your toilet but not your employee, exploited. Yours don't stink! You are the country, you wouldn't do these jobs and yet you go to the toilet. You impress everyone!

You like to be disagreeable and it must iritate you when I counter your points.

Employees who work for independent contractors SHOULD get the paid holidays and other benefits I mentioned.

There should also be reforms as to who is an independent contractor and who is an employee, so as to prevent abuse and avoidance of paying benefits.
@beckyromero the Dems don't do labor stuff, aa far as I can tell. Certainly you made this personal! You win- you are for treating us like that dentist or card dealer who IS an employee with holidays, you just support the Dems, who don't. You personally are doing fine. Me, nah. You're winning.

😂

Look who's talking about making things "personal"?

Your first post included: "your", "you," "your", "your", "yours", "you", "you", "you" and "you."
@beckyromero your as in the nation. Your country thinks and votes that way. Denial of having a collective sounds about normal for "you" as a nation. It's nothing personal. Obviously this is the politics and news category but denial of the collective is de rigueur!
You don't mind Trump's murder threats because you don't care for international laws, as a country. You as a user refuse to answer my question about that. You as a nation do, too. You should never admit I'm making sense, here! You stay that fatal course.

Ah, I see.

But how come you don't acknowledge when I disagree with my party or my government's policy or actions, such as the new for more paid holidays and benefits for workers?
@beckyromero because you should ditch people who fail on purpose, not pretend that critique is all you need to do.
The USA unanimously votes for the politics that's killing them fast. It's not like you had no choice.

You do realize that there are 100 Senators and 435 House Members and that I can only vote for 2 U.S. Senators (they come up for staggered elections for a six year term) and 1 House Member (every two years)? And that I can only vote for 1 state Senator and one IL House Rep.

I've worked on winning campaigns and losing campaigns and consulting work.

But there is no magic wand to fix things overnight.
@beckyromero Americans would have to really care and really want change, the nation would have to bolt from the Dems and the GOP and form authentic political movements behind actual candidates for peace and socialism to avert the current disaster. Sorry that's impossible.
