The Climate Crisis Ahead

When life imitates art has had profound effects through-out history. When the films 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow were released, the public got a realistic take of the catastrophic consequences of what we are actually doing to our planet and environment today.

The planet is already experiencing extreme weather patterns that for years now have drastically increased surface temperatures all around the globe. This yearly rise of temperatures have accelerated severe weather to the point every nation is experiencing either severe drought, torrential rain, flash flooding, more frequent tornadoes, and an increase of hurricanes all of which lives are lost, livelihoods destroyed, billions of dollar's worth of property damage and not to mention the agricultural losses. It is these losses that have and are having a universal drastic effect on every nation around the world.

The scientific community have warned governments that our failure to really and aggressively reduce carbon emissions global temperatures will only continue to rise. What is now happening in Antartica and the Artic where both polar regions ice sheets have been breaking apart at more alarming rates than predicted will in fact if humanity doesn't act quickly and with a sincere resolve millions will suffer and die because of the consequences of our inaction.

Bluntly put global warming is the quinquennial threat humanity faces in the 21st century. 2024 was the hottest on record. The US under Trump have completely ignored the Paris Climate Accord and with it the forecast thru this year till 2029 global temperatures will only continue to rise. With every fraction of a degree increase drives more extreme weather all around the globe.

In Antartica the most discerning environmental crisis is already unfolding. With ocean temperatures increasing and surface temps rising the meltwater from collapsing icesheets of Antartica are accelerating more rapidly than predicted. This acceleration is caused by the Antarctic Slope Current. It is this current that is now eroding the icesheets from below. The polar ice sheets of both the Artic and Antartica are melting faster and at a more alarming rate.

With atmospheric temperatures rising every ocean is seeing a drastic increase in water temperature. What this means with icesheets melting more rapidly coastal regions will become inhabitable. Global warming is a dual threat. With rising sea levels and a desalination point that triggers more violent storms all around the world is the dual threat we can't ignore any longer. The movie Day After Tomorrow depicted a worst-case scenario of what occurs when the tipping point occurs when icesheets break away. We may not have reached that tipping point yet but if governments continue with their current policies humanity will face a harsh reality like in that movie The Day After Tomorrow.

You really should try reading actual statistics instead of watching Hollywood movies.
The "scientific" projectios are false. They came up with numbers to fit their preordained conclussions.
The "experts" have made about 40 predictions as far back as 1970. No have come to fruition

@Patriot96 Sorry. While the movies certainly exaggerate the likely outcomes (certainly 2012) The actual scientific projections are if anything too optimistic. Its just that the science has not yet reached the tipping points needed to spill over into the global catastrophies shown in Hollywood. but Glaciers are retreating and sea temperatures are rising at the high end of predictions. And its likely this will continue😷

@whowasthatmaskedman but mans imput has not been proven.
Climate has been changing for millions of years.
It has been much warmer during othe time periods before the industrial age

@Patriot96 This reminds me of the guy who didnt believe in gravity. He jumped off the top of the empire state building to prove he wouldnt fall to his death. As he passed by the 30th floor, someone heard him yell.. "So far my theory is holding up well"..😷

@PatKirby

There once was a Caesar named Nero,
Whose cred must have dropped below zero,
When he sang and he fiddled,
With Rome by flames riddled,
And ALL he could say was, Oh, dear-o!"
