DOJ Launches Criminal Investigation Against Disgraced Governor Over ‘COVID Lies’

Word on the street, confirmed by Fox News and The Hill, is that President Trump’s Department of Justice has officially opened a criminal investigation into none other than “King Cuomo.” The charge? Allegedly telling porky pies to Congress about his administration’s disastrous, and frankly deadly, decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic. You know, the ones that had tragic consequences for New York’s most vulnerable.
This isn’t some fishing expedition, mind you. The U.S. attorney’s office in Washington D.C. reportedly kicked off this probe about a month ago. It seems the wheels of justice, under Attorney General Pam Bondi, are beginning to turn where they had previously been gathering dust.
Governor Cuomo, in his infinite wisdom, issued a directive in March of that year that effectively forced nursing homes to accept COVID-19 positive patients. The stated aim was to free up hospital beds, but the outcome was a horror show. More than 9,000 recovering, and still infectious, coronavirus patients were shuffled off into facilities housing the elderly and frail.
The predictable, and heartbreaking, result? Carnage. And to add insult to fatal injury, a damning March 2022 report from the New York state comptroller found that Cuomo’s Health Department “was not transparent in its reporting of COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes” and “understated the number of deaths at nursing homes by as much as 50%” at certain points. Fifty percent! Let that sink in. House Republicans, particularly under the leadership of Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, weren’t about to let this slide. They referred Cuomo for criminal prosecution after he allegedly made “multiple criminally false statements” to Congress about his role in the scandal, including his involvement in drafting a state health department report on the matter.
As Representative Comer so bluntly put it:
“Andrew Cuomo is a man with a history of corruption and deceit, now caught red-handed lying to Congress during the Select Subcommittee’s investigation into the COVID-19 nursing home tragedy in New York. This wasn’t a slip-up – it was a calculated cover-up by a man seeking to shield himself from responsibility for the devastating loss of life in New York’s nursing homes. Let’s be clear: lying to Congress is a federal crime. Mr. Cuomo must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
