The American Heritage Dictionary defines the term concentration camp as: "A camp where persons are confined, usually without hearings and typically under harsh conditions, often as a result of their membership in a group which the government has identified as dangerous or undesirable."

The terms really had no really association with death camps until almost 100 years later during WW2.

@AthrillatheHunt false, death ≠ concentration camps. Concentration campa existed before the Nazis. Also it's a misconception that all Nazi concentration camps were death camps, some weren't, some were mixed camps.

That being said the Holocaust didn't start the monent Hitler made concentration camps for "undesirables" like socialists, communists, trade unioniars, anarchists, LGBT people or dissidents.

@basilfawlty89 We also have well documented cases of concentration camps used by Spain against Cuba in the 1860s during the 10 years war. Seems a toss up as to who coined the term first the Brits in SA or the Spanish in Cuba but yeah. This guy has no idea.

@basilfawlty89 Macedonians are genetically southern Slavs . You can see it in the cheek bones. Don’t know why Greece laid claim to the south of Macedonia . They were even a part of a country that has the word “Slav “ in its name. Albanians like to claim Alex’s mom spoke Albanian but that’s probably not true.

Slavs weren't even in Europe during Alexander's time. Alexander is literally a Greek name (Alex + Andros), so is Macedonian (Makedon). Genetic studies show modern Greeks in Thessaloniki resemble Ancient Macedonians.

Also modern Greeks can read Macedonian texts, both the alphabet and understand the language. Slavs and Albanians can't.
