They ease their fear by convincing you that you actually have no choices.
They win because you believe them... you believe that they're in control.
So why do they spend enormous amounts on focus groups, polls, test groups, market research, advertising agencies, consultants, sales strategies, market share, etc?

@peterlee Not even, they may believe so but they aren't. Same identical thing with ol' fascisms, initially supported by wealthy industrialists that though they could bend it as they deemed fit, but what happened eventually was the exact opposite.
There's already plenty of examples indicating they're moving the same way - e.g. Amazon being effectively forced to back off from the idea of listing the tariff amount separately from the price of each item when Trump didn't like the idea
