Dems Rage Over Nashville ICE Raids That Targeted Rapists And Gang Members

The federal deportation raids in Tennessee that have garnered outrage from local Democrats resulted in the capture of rapists, drug dealers, and gang members, according to a Department of Homeland Security dossier obtained by The Daily Wire.

Nashville’s Democrat mayor Freddie O’Connell has said he was very “frustrated” to see immigration enforcement in the city, stating, “We did not request this approach to safety, we do not support it.” In response, he signed an executive order mandating that communications from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) be directed to his office immediately.

His outrage comes with little public information known about the scale about the raid, but The Daily Wire has learned that nearly 200 illegal aliens were captured during the weeklong raids, including rapists, drug dealers, and gang members.

The raids, which ICE carried out in conjunction with local and federal law enforcement partners, began on May 3 and resulted in the arrest of 196 illegal aliens. Of those arrested, 95 had prior criminal convictions or pending criminal charges, while another 31 had reentered the country after being previously removed from the United States, a felony offense, the federal law enforcement agency told The Daily Wire.

“This operation resulted in getting gang members, sex offenders, and other violent criminals off Nashville’s streets,” Tricia McLaughlin, the Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, told The Daily Wire. “President Trump and Secretary Noem will continue to stand with victims and the brave ICE agents who are on the frontlines making America safe again.”

This is where the problems start.
@soar2newhighs It's different though, if they've requested asylum. Our asylum laws date back to the Reagan era and reflect the fact that Reagan was a big big fan of immigration, and also used the immigration laws to spit in the eye of Fidel Castro. Yeah, they're due for overhaul.

8 USC §1158. Asylum
(a) Authority to apply for asylum
(1) In general
Any alien who is physically present in the United States or who arrives in the United States (whether or not at a designated port of arrival and including an alien who is brought to the United States after having been interdicted in international or United States waters), irrespective of such alien's status, may apply for asylum in accordance with this section or, where applicable, section 1225(b) of this title.

@ElwoodBlues Which is pretty bad that conservatives don't even agree with Reagan anymore, that's pretty far right seeing as how Reagan helped kill nuns in El Salvador.

@sunsporter1649 That's not due process, I'm very surprised conservatives don't know the Constitution.

@SatanBurger How is it not?

@sunsporter1649Due processis the right to legal procedures, lawyers and the right to a fair trail. Just kicking them out with no consideration is not due process. [media=https://instagram.com/DIeEiyit2PI]

@sunsporter1649 We get it, the Constitution is a joke to you these days. SAD!!

@sunsporter1649 That's not due process you repeating it doesn't make it truth.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@SatanBurger You mean getting a court date for a hearing is not due process! Whouda thunk it!

@SatanBurger Your way is so much more humane, letting every drug runner, child trafficker, and murderer to be released into the country, with a court date the illegal alien will ignore, free ro roam the country terrorising American citizens. Any more brilliant ideas?
@SatanBurger Would you say that the thousands who crossed the border, given court dates to be heard were receiving “ due process”?
I ask because we all know that many ( no doubt there are those who followed through) will not nor have they taken the steps to have their cases adjudicated.

@soar2newhighs There was a few who had court dates in less than two months and they were deported anyways. Ironically a few of those were Trump supporter's spouses lol. In one case, ICE tricked someone and told them they could finally take their citizenship test, they were deported. They're not getting due process.

A student with two degrees in biology, one is a PhD is suing after ICE tried to deport her over a traffic ticket and Trump tried to revoke legal green card holders. Would you give yourself up to a court with that going on 🤔

Trump even said specfically that he doesn't know if he supports the Constitution and tried to executive order an amendment to the constitution to change birthright citizenship to which he had a fit that the Supreme Court wouldn't let him change it on a whim.

@SatanBurger They had court dates. Did they make them or show good faith they were going to go?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@soar2newhighs Yeah the one person that was deported had a citizenship hearing in two months. It was one of the Trump supporter's spouses.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@sunsporter1649 At least she had a PhD and would make the world better. What education and what do you contribute? It's time to ask you if you've put in the work and if you haven't, why do you feel like you deserve things better than anyone else. I don't think you're entitled to anything.
@soar2newhighs ICE isn't wearing identification or showing badges. ICE is grabbing people off the street just like human traffickers would. That's not "law and order" and you know it.

A man in a navy blue hoodie approached Tufts University graduate student Rumeysa Ozturk on a street in Somerville near her off-campus apartment earlier this week and asked, “Hey, ma’am, can I talk to you for a second?”

Six federal agents, with their faces covered, are then seen taking away Ozturk’s phone as she yells and is handcuffed.

See https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/what-we-know-about-the-case-of-the-tufts-university-student-detained-by-ice/3669105/

Note, also, the use of the verb "detained" instead of "arrested." Arrests are a part of due process. "Detaining" like this is not. Ozturk's "crime" seems to be exercising her free speech rights in favor of Hamas. Remember when you republicans were such big fans of free speech?

Now I don't agree with anyone who supports Hamas, nor do I agree with anyone who support Putin. But I can't deny their free speech rights. Can you??
@ElwoodBlues I never said anything about their tactics.
WHO said anything about law and order in our exchange?
Your issues are not what I can solve. You need to contact your representatives.
What I did say was it starts when the border is crossed illegally whether it’s for asylum or other reasons.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@ElwoodBlues We get it, mail the illegal alien a letter stating the date and time of arrest, right? Any more brilliant ideas?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@SatanBurger Unlike you, I worked for everything I have, strange concept to you left-wing nut-job marxists waiting for a handout
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@sunsporter1649 I mean since when is getting a PhD in biology easy? It's not at all. All those years of schooling is crazy hard.

And leftists are big union supporters, you know who works unions? Physical labor jobs. So don't be running your mouth like that. You worked hard all your life, guess what? So has everyone else, I just don't blame immigrants for everything, big difference there.

@sunsporter1649 Why do you keep ignoring asylum seekers??

by you left-wing nut-job marxists
Can you explain what you yourself mean by "marxists"??
