THIS is a "progressive" solution to the housing crisis? Allow students to live on campus in the cars?

SACRAMENTO, California — A progressive Democratic lawmaker is seeking a simple but jarring remedy of last resort for California’s college students navigating the state’s housing crisis: Let them sleep in their cars.

That's his idea of creating "affordable housing"? 🤬

How about, just for starters, lowering the cost of on-campus housing?

No it's not his solution. Apparently it takes too long to set up a regular housing solution. So this is in order to prevent students from sleeping on the streets all together. This would be a stop gap measure, until something can be set up.

This is likely the result of Newsom's new laws on the homeless. People sleeping in cars on public streets are considered homeless.

That's a whole different issue.

If California was a deep-red state whose population didn't give a f*** about low income wage earners, I could understand (though not condone) that.

But you've got a super-majority of Democrats in the legislature. Can't you (not just you, but California voters) tell them to do their job?

@beckyromero they had to move me 100 miles away just to get permanent housing!

If Gavin Newsom has time to go on Joe Rogan's podcast, he's got time to sign a few checks.
It’s not student life anymore, it’s a mobile dormitory dystopia. I saw a lad cooking beans on a USB-powered hob while his mate revised in the boot. Grim 😞
