Cory Booker’s Marathon Speech Lands Him in Ethical Hot Water

“It is clear that Senator Booker’s Senate floor speech had a campaign purpose,” the watchdog group said in its complaint. “During his speech, he sent a series of emails that campaigned and sought valuable supporter information and campaign contributions based on his Senate floor speech. Immediately after his speech, Booker sent an email that requested donations for his campaign and the DNC if the recipient liked what they saw him do on the Senate floor. There is no more direct of a tie between an official action and campaign solicitation.”

According to the complaint, Booker’s campaign sent six separate messages during and after the speech. One fundraising message, sent twice, stated, “If you were inspired by what you saw today, split a contribution between Cory Booker and the DNC.” Another, sent while he was still speaking, included links to his campaign store. Talk about multitasking – breaking Senate rules while breaking speaking records!

The Senate’s ethics rules explicitly prohibit senators from linking official actions with campaign solicitations. But I guess when you’re a Democrat with presidential ambitions, rules are just suggestions, right?

@Briggett You mean the legislative branch is allowing the executive branch to do it's job! What a novel idea
Briggett · T
@sunsporter1649 for you this is novel approach for now. If and when the other side uses this method in the future; question will you and those who feel and think like the way you are thinking now will relish the moment?

This just shows that you don't know what the job of the legislative or executive branch are in your constitution. But for you, it doesn't matter, because you are cheering for dictatorship. The legislative and judicial branch are just obstructions for your preferred authoritarian model.
Briggett · T
@Kwek00 my statement specifically speaks for itself.
The executive has all branch basically rendered the effective checks and balances from the legislative branches and the judicial branches, totally ineffectively by concentrate it’s non acting actions on upholding the constitution and the laws that govern within it.

In conventional times there probably wouldn’t a directly disagreement between your standards and mine.
Nothing conventional about what’s happening here under present circumstances and current conditions.

@Briggett I wasn't addressing you at all.
