Trump Will Sign Executive Order Making English the Official Language of the US

President Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order later today, making English the official language of the U.S.

The executive order, upon signed, will officially rescind a mandate issued by former President Bill Clinton in 2000 that required federal agencies and recipients of federal funds to assist non-Native English speakers

Interestingly, the U.S. has never declared an official language for itself, despite its 250-year existence. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were written in English.

I have mixed feelings about that due to the way the Natives were treated here. Some of the tribal languages nearly died out due to children being punished for speaking it.

But for business and in emergency situations or where safety is concerned English should be the common language.
