Trump signs executive order expanding power of Elon Musk’s Doge agency Order calls for ‘transformation’ in US spending on contracts, grants and loans

Donald Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order meant to expand the power of Elon Musk’s governmental cost-cutting program, the so-called “department of government efficiency”, or Doge.

The new order calls for a “transformation” in federal spending on contracts, grants and loans by requiring agencies to create a centralized system to record and justify payments, which may be made public for transparency – an initiative that would be monitored by Musk’s team.

When will all of the contracts Musk has with Uncle Sam be audited?

"We're not just going to be waiting for legislation," Obama announced. "I've got a pen and I've got a phone…and I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions and administrative actions."

@sunsporter1649 True. When Congress refuses to govern, the Executive Branch can step in and govern via Executive Orders.
Executive Orders can be challenged in the courts and often they are.
Many of Obama's, Biden's, and Trump's EO's were stopped by the courts, while others were upheld.

Also, EO's by 1 POTUS can be ended by the next POTUS....and we have seen this happen.
