Meme coin destroys Argentina’s economy - president Milei faces impeachment. There’s a lesson in this, Mr. Trump . . .

Photo above - quick, how many crypto currencies worth more than a dollar can you name? Screem shot courtesy of the film Robocop. The original one, not the atrocious 2014 reboot where he can suddenly fly like a cruise missile.

Add this to the list of 630 cryptocurrencies I cannot name: “Libra”. It was invented by Solana, a blockchain platform which has gotten rich pulling this same stunt repeatedly. Solana “controls” 95% of all meme coins, and used artificial intelligence to create over 8,000 new flavors. Both the Trump and Melania meme coins are Solana gimmicks. It's all perfectly legal, just so you know. I'm not slandering anyone.

Yesterday the Libra meme coin collapsed, losing 80% of its value in 2 hours as “insiders” rushed for the exits. Argentine’s new president Milei (the one with the actress/supermodel girlfriend) was pushing Libra as the salvation of the Argentine economy. Milei is now facing impeachment. It is not known if his girlfriend Fatima Florez has her own meme coin deal with Solana. (Ticker symbol SOL-USD)

The idea that crypto currency speculation can solve a nation's budget deficit, or help pay off its national debt, is ludicrous of course. Meme coins seem to principally a get rich scheme. If you doubt that this is true, please name as many crypto currencies as you can worth more than a dollar. Bitcoin is #1, at $100,000. Congrats, if you got Ethereum at $2,000. But Ethereum one declined 6% over the past year. The other 600+? I’m not going to waste time looking them up.

After Milei is impeached for investment fraud, it’s possible Argentia will return to socialism. Before Milei, Argentia was run by Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner – several times, as first lady, president, vice president, and the offstage figure who might have controlled at least one puppet President. Argentina's inflation was over 100% not too long ago. Ms. Kirchner is still alive and was acquitted of currency fraud during her own presidency. It is not known if she has her own meme coin today though.

Other than bolstering personal bank accounts, it's not clear what President Trump and estranged wife Melania hope to achieve with their personal meme coins. Certainly it’s not economic stability for our nation, stable US dollar exchange rates, an improved balance of trade, or reduced inflation. If any readers can link to a source on how meme coins would solve these problems, please have a go at it.

Barron Trump, I have faith in the youth of our nation. Please take a step back from the cliff and think twice about issuing your own meme coin. You have your entire future ahead of you. Don’t eff it up at age 18, no matter what your daddy may have told you.

I’m just sayin’ . . .

That kid has a real shot at politics if he navigates his 20’s successfully .
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@LeopoldBloom I don’t know anyone who idolizes him. Heck , I don’t even know anyone that’s ever heard him speak. What has he done to you ? Been a loyal son ?
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@AthrillatheHunt i'm not really a fan of presidential children entering politics . . .

chelsea clinton
barron trump
Malia and Dropsy Obama
Hunter Biden
Donald Trump Jr
Ron Reagan Junior

etc
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@SusanInFlorida that’s fair. This kid is different though . Just my opinion. Keeping his mouth shut is the best thing he can do for the next 4 years . And plus , he’s already an adult. Other presidents kids were actually kids when their dad was CIC.
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
The Argies eh? It couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of people…
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@WintaTheAngle they have had economy issues for years. I was there in 2017 and only exchanged money on the black market .
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@AthrillatheHunt They’ve had economic issues since at least the 1970s. Thats why they keep picking fights with their neighbours to change the headlines.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@WintaTheAngle i'm a big fan of argentinian barbecued beef. they do a half steer on a spit. it takes hours. gives americas ribs and brisket a run for the money

I guess if Trump wants to make his own coin and people want to buy it that is on them. It would take an act of congress to make us use it.
@Subsumedpat Trump already has his own crypto coin! It was released Jan 17.

SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@Subsumedpat the history of financial scams demonstrates that no law is ever needed to pull them off. people's own greed is the only thing needed.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
media is blowing the story way out of proportions, the same way liberals do here on anything to do with trump...
ineedadrink · 51-55, M
@wildbill83 This poster is hardly a liberal. Tries to call B.S. on all who deserve it from what I've seen her post.

@wildbill83 its great to hear from a trump coin fan. how much do you own, and what price did you buy at?

keep us posted!
To be fair, Milei destroyed Argentina way before this meme coin scam.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@BohemianBabe he certainly overpromised and under delivered.

but to be fair, the economy was already a dumpster fire before he took office, with a 100% inflation rate and $400 billion in foreign debt.

It’s no secret why Trump issued that coin - to fleece the rubes.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@LeopoldBloom broad agreement. but that's also the end game behind bitcoin, Ethereum, ripple, NFTs, annuities, FTX, Theranos, Worldcom, Enron, Bernie Madoff . . .

The SEC appears to be out of its depth most of the time.
@SusanInFlorida Yes, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. independent agency within the Federal Reserve System, was part of our protection against some of the ripoffs conducted by big institutions against ordinary citizens.

However, tRump has shut it down. Coincidentally, Elon is ramping up his own twitter based payment platform.
