US Government struggles to rehire nuclear arsenal staff it fired days ago..

The US government is trying to bring back nuclear safety employees it fired on Thursday, but is struggling to let them know they should return to work, it has been reported.

The National Nuclear Security Administration workers were among hundreds of employees in the energy department who received termination letters.

An email obtained by NBC said the letters for the NNSA employees "are being rescinded, but we do not have a good way to get in touch with those personnel".

You just couldn’t make this up, even in your worst nightmares…

That is the problem with shutting everything down then having to start back up , it costs more than first doing the analysis to determine what needs to be kept and what needs to go. You end up blowing the money you saved and have to deal with repercussions of shutting down something that did not need to be shut down.

This is hilarious 😂

@Miram Not for the people made redundant, it isn't....

@ArishMell They are being rehired .

I wouldn't have laughed if the thread said it was final decision.

@ArishMell

I checked more details

concerns grew that their dismissal could jeopardise national security,

I assumed as much, lmao.

So yes, it is funny. It is bit similar to the movie The dictator. I have never heard of anything like this happen in any other country.

Financial compensation for the appalling treatment by their employer might be in order . .
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@SunshineGirl I am not sure we can blame the direct employer, the NNSA, itself though. Almost all the US Government agencies are being cut right back, very rapidly, very severely, apparently without due process such as union negotiations, so I think the order must be from the Oval Office.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@ArishMell Absolutely. It must be a nightmare trying to do a civil service job right now.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Strange thing to do in the first place, but does the agency not have their employees' addresses etc.?

Or has someone destroyed all the Personnel records?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Adeptlinguist That's certainly the effect, but there seems no-one able to rein him in.

If the idea was to reduce Government spending what are those extra $4Bn in just a few weeks? Can't all be redundancy payments, can they?
@ArishMell Do you mean someone or do you mean "someone"; whose name sounds a bit like, say, Alan Tusk?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@autumngirl27 Well.... The President is "Alan Tusk" 's boss... I think.

For real, Antoine that claims our new administration in the USA knows what they’re doing is a new kind of gullible.

@HootyTheNightOwl There is no need to be rude. Of course I know that, though I thnk some other readers might not.

I didn't think I needed expand on the consequences,
@ArishMell I'm rude??? I'm not the one who came to someone else's post and tried to tell them that these tariffs are not a tax on other nations. There's no point in getting 50 shades of butt hurt when I saw through your attempts and called you on it.

You're talking to the wrong bird if you wanted someone going "My, you're so smart, I didn't know that the tariffs would only ever affect just importers".

I'm well aware that our steel industry is just about done and taxing it isn't going to help keep it going for much longer when we've been subsidising it for years.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@HootyTheNightOwl Sorry if I've offended you but I don't know what you mean there.

We should never have let our steel industry get into that state, in fact I think it should have stayed state-owned; but I know it is very worried about its future if it demand in the USA drops significantly. I don't know where else we can sell these alloys that seem the primary export to America.
