If Trump wants to get rid of waste in government, should the Senate and House all be fired and not replaced?

Not only would it save the money from 535 overpaid people but would also get rid of their massive staffs.
Since Congress refuses to do its job, they should all be fired.

I would be in favor of cutting Congress in half. One Senator per state and half the number of House members. I also think the President should serve one six year term.

@eli1601 What is going to be the job of the house and the senate Eli?

Legeslate laws that the executive branch can interpretate in what ever way it wants?
Have power over the purse, that the executive branch can ignore whenever it wants?
...

Yeah... what is going to be it's job Eli? Just sit there and worship I guess.
And you don't have to worry either... 'cause the orange calf promised you that evangelicals won't need to vote again. You'll just have to sit down, shut up and worship too. The sheperd has come Eli, you voted for him. The time for proposing, voting and thinking is over. You liberated yourself from all those responsibilities and gave it to a dictator.

You do know that people who understand economics say that tax cuts cause increases in taxes collected (increase in business) and increases quality of life. People who feel that their life is over need to change their thinking because nothing could be further from the truth.

Just think about this Martha... if you take it at your simplistic level of understanding, it would mean that if you have a taxrate of 0, you would get the biggest tax-return as a governement. I hope you understand, that doesn't make sense right?

But this is again a salespitch. What your media outlets did, was take a study, oversimplified it, drummed it in your head, and like a zombie you meme it around everywhere. What they forgot to tell you, is that here is a range where the return on taxrate goes up, but it goes down if the taxrate is too big, because people start frauding the taxman more and more because the rate is too high. America, is not at that point, far from it. But rich people in the US, keep teaching gullible people like you, that if only we lower the rate even more, there will be more income, creating the dumb notion that if we push it towards 0, the income for the state will be immense.

@Kwek00

Too bad for all of us that the sweet range where we could both raise income and lower taxes at the same time has been arrived at.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@MarthannBann888 Then why do scandinavian and most west European countries do just that? You are aware you are talking to a Belgian right? maybe look up how the belgian tax-rate compares to the rest of the world, before you say something else that doesn't make any sense.

OK some of their difference with others maybe accounted for because business taxation is lower than personal taxation at 40%. According to Arthur Laufer, who formulated the Laufer Curve, businesses do not start to fail until their taxes raise about the 39% point.
The personnel rate is considered among the highest, and affects negatively the harm an individual endures paying the tax, thus increasing the overall harm as a result of taxation.
Whatever harm Europeans do to their people as a result of their high taxation I will leave to them to sort out. You can read Laufer about his findings.

The only reason why you frame it like that, is because you are oblivious to the return. People out here can go to school, go to the doctor, have surgery, go to the dentist, ... without fearing to go belly up. 🤷‍♂

Also... it's "Laffer" and again, there is no indication that the warning sign this theory gives is applicable to where the US is today (when it comes to taxes).

Thanks for the Laffer, I forgot:) Healthcare sounds like heaven, so wish it could be that way, but you and I both know it is not. Not but a few years ago, clients were demonstrating in front of the mental health offices in London. The reason? Clients cannot get appointments. No one doubts the wonderful service offered at the agency. the problem is no one could get an appointment inside 3 to 6 months.

I am so glad that you are Belgium. It is evident the great pride you take in your heritage. I hope that you can learn to express this pride without sounding like a little twerp. It would be a shame that the great Belgium heritage be shamed by you.
