Being someone who doesn't drive, the price of gasoline is irrelevant to me.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Sidewinder except they use gas for agriculture and transportation so eventually it increases the price of everything
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@JimboSaturn Walking is my only mode of transportation and that in itself, doesn't use gasoline.
Also, financially speaking, choosing to walk, as opposed to taking a ride on a bus or in a taxicab saves me a fortune in gym membership fees, public transportation fees, and gasoline prices.
Plus, I have another very personal reason I choose to walk, rather than take public transportation.

@Sidewinder It's an excellent choice, I agree! We should all walk more. It makes sense on so many levels!

How do you get around? Are you bed-ridden or what?

Give us a clue how you manage to live and get everything you need within walking distance.

@sree251 If you live downtown in a major city you don't need a car, everything is walking distance plus there is subway, busses, and uber. Not everyone lives in the suburbs.

He said he opposes taking taxis or bus. He walks. Relying on God-given legs for transportation is the right thing to do. Mankind went astray the day someone climbed onto a horse/donkey to get around faster further.
The only person I know who lives Sidewinder's way is my elderly aunt. She lives on the Upper East side in New York City. She gets all her food from the deli around the corner. Groceries are just as close at the Korean market. To get exercise, she walks further with her little dog around the block. She gets away with just walking because everything is brought in by trucks, planes and container ships from all over the world.

@sree251 I live in a small town where all the places I frequent are within walking distance of my house.
The farthest place I go to is about a half hour away and the closest being only about just a minute away, I timed it, myself.
And when I walk, I average about 2-3 footsteps per second and about 3 1/2 - 4 if I run.

Sounds like assisted living.

@sree251 It may sound like it, but it isn't.
It's just the way that the town I live in geographically is.
